Re: The GOLD scream room
I bet Harry Browne didn’t have a solution to this one.
I would really like to buy a bunch of gold tomorrow but i don’t think I’m going to be in town to take delivery. At least it’s possible that I won’t be. No way am I leaving it to the wife to receive it. It’s not that she’s flaky, but if something went wrong, I don’t think I’d get over it.

I don’t want to put the burden on her, Mark. That’s true love.

I'm glad you said that. I was going to respond but I wanted to let you first respond.
I read your initial statement as saying you did not want to put her in the position of something possibly going wrong, her not handling it the same way you would.
You'd regret it if you had put her in that position and something did go wrong.
Therefore, you believed it would not be fair to her to do that.
You were casting no suspicions on her.
You merely wanted to be the one who took all the responsibility for the transaction correctly happening.

You got it, Vinny!
By the same token, i have a favorite ceramic mug that I ask her not to wash, to leave it for me. (We share dishwashing duties). She wanted to know why, and I said if someone eventually breaks it, I’d rather it be me, ie be angry at myself. It may sound strange to some, but this is a philosophy and lifestyle that works for me.

I COMPLETELY understand! Some things are always best done by oneself.

Re: The GOLD scream room
You know what's funny, though? I asked her if she would feel comfortable receiving it and she said it's fine. So, maybe I'll just order.
Re: The GOLD scream room
Wow, didn't even get credit for bringing the funny. Do I LOOK like I have a bat in my avatar?dualstow wrote: ↑Thu Mar 04, 2021 9:55 am

I was a little confused by DS's reply, too, and had to read it a couple of times to parse it.
I think the emoji was in response to your comment, Kbg, then the "You got it, Vinny" and the rest of it was in response to Vinny's post. The confusing part was that DS quoted you but not Vinny.

Re: The GOLD scream room
you parsed correctly, Tortoise.
Kbg, i wouldn’t have bothered to quote you if you weren’t going to get credit.
geez, lot of handholding required here

Budd, gold was up more than bonds were down. Did it make you smile?

As an aside, what are the REAL inflation rates like in Canada? Are prices going up at a great rate?
House prices in Australia are ridiculous, but that is not counted in the CPI. Guess they think people don't live I homes????

There’s nothing anyone can say on this board that convinces me Gold is worth anything. I feel the same way about the PP - a cowards portfolio that amounts to nothing. What a joke and a waste of time.

Re: The GOLD scream room
Scenarios similar to March 2020 unfold with irregularity and in-between the PP investor relinquishes too much in equity gains to make 4x25 worthwhile.
The PP would still be treading water today if I hadn’t violated 15/35 bands and increased stock exposure near the March bottom. It was tactical asset allocation rather than the PP that accounted for the outsized gains.
At last glance I am up 80%+ in Gold LTD but have reduced exposure to the point where it no longer matters much to me. One day gold is worth something and the next day it’s worthless. I’d much rather invest in real estate as a store of value that also pays dividends than rely on the greater fool theory when it’s time to sell Au.
