I am just adding daily to get it back to the 600k I started with in it ...I have 600k in each and that is as high as I want ..but if an asset falls below I bring it back to 600 ...I have been adding to Tlt daily for weeks. Lol

I should have waited a couple days, but I still believe that it will reverse. There are too many articles and talk about yields rising, blah, blah. When I have listened to the crowd in the past I have almost 100% of the time been on the wrong side.

Regardless, this isn't a day trade for me. I would have been foolish to think I could get in at exactly a short term bottom.

Sorry MJ, hope it pays off in the long run.
Trading in and out of TLT when it reaches extremes, especially pre-market.
Not holding longer than a day.

Like it or not I am in it for the long term now ....this portfolio kicked my ass and I will just have to wait it out however long it takes ....it was a poor choice in retrospect so far switching from what I was using for years ...I hope it improves .....

I am hoping when stocks stumble I will be posting , great move ....but so far it has been falling deeper and deeper in a hole daily

I feel the same way and have been selling stocks to buy ITT in retirement accounts. When you buy TLT at 92 and sell in the 160’s theres no rush to get back in ASAP. Legging in slowly.

Yes, that is a good point. My average cost over the years I have been buying is 118. So still up and have been getting the dividend, however small, for 7 years.

I did better before. Lol

My core portfolios were never day traded ....the day trading was my variable ...

But like I said a core portfolio can swap funds over time ..it does need to sit with one fund or the same funds forever ..

So returns are just cumulative of 33 years of investing ...down is down and until that changes that is your balance whether one cares yet or not...saying one has to sit for years makes little sense to a long term investor ...no matter what you swap investments for it is all cumulative and a work in progress and you either have more or less .

All we do is hope values change over time for the better but until that happens all that counts is today ,that is your balance good or bad

I'd be surprised if stock market can take much more than 1.5 on the ten year...seems like there is gonna be a ceiling on rates...at least in short term. I play in five percent bands with stocks and treasuries. Ive cut stock exposure to a bit under 20% and have started buying in treasuries from where they were sitting at 18%. This morning was painful but will keep at it until I hit 25 percent if yields keep rising.

I believe that 1.5% on the ten year is a major résistance level.

In at 139.38.
Hopefully that’s it for now.

Out 140.20.
Stocks up, bonds recover; stocks down, bonds sell off.

Hahahah...who buys the bottom and then sells shortly thereafter?

You guys jump in and out over a half a percentage point? I'm over here thinking 20% moves...

It’s all around the edges for me.

I also think 1.50% on the ten and 2.25-2.50 on the 30 may take a breather

Regarding 1.5% on 10y - it served as support several times in the past (years 2012, 2016, 2019..) and now is supposed to act as resistance on the price... Guess the fact of round/half/quarter numbers also plays role..

I don't think anyone has ever been able to explain to my satisfaction how rates like this are possible, e.g. how is Greece paying less yield than the US?

Makes it all seem like BS.

This isn't an answer exactly, but it does explain to an extent. From 2019, when Greece had negative yields.
