MJ, you’re just bored ;)
Managing around the edges is fun especially in tax-deferred accounts.
The thrill of making +2000 on a trade has worn off when the portfolio moves 10-15x that amount daily.
I see myself wanting to trade more often for the excitement now that I am retired, but have picked up horticulture as an alternative as “flowers” grow with fewer setbacks than my portfolio ;D

The trading is besides my portfolio....I have had days before we toned the models down of 40-50k a day .

But the idea of the trading is being retired I want to average about a days pay if I can a day on average so it is a game ...this week just gold and TLT BROUGHT IN A FEW THOUSAND AND THAT IS IN A WEEK IF I HELD IT IT WAS ACTUALLY DOWN .....

.I don’t break out just the trading gains but overall with about 25% in equities we brought in over 300k in gains and the trading was a good part Heck 300 to 500 a day compounding over a year can be a whole lot of dough if it is consistent enough .....I don’t calculate percentages because we are not only spending down to live but the money is only in for a day at times

So it is a lot of fun , I have hundreds of trades this year from being in lock down so much.

I can post the trading statement if anyone cares what the trades were ......there are very few loses over the year ....any big down. Was generally a portfolio component that was swapped out at the low for a better choice for the ride back .

But I have no problem posting the statement

Just an update ....got freakin COVID somehow ......so far this is my 7th day of symptoms ....I feel sick as a dog but so far no breathing issues ....

My wife likely has it too ...we were tested Saturday,I was positive she was negative

She developed symptoms two days later ...so it shows you it is not good to test unless you already have symptoms....she is going to get retested today

Sorry and quite shocked to hear it.

Do you have any guesses as to how you acquired it?

After being so careful for months we had lunch with a friend and I guess the table was smaller then it should be ...two days later he called to say he had fever and chills ..I had started a small annoying cough the same day.

Since we were around no one prior and he owns a business I would assume he picked it up from a customer.

I think I should be peaking now so it may be at its worse I hope ....you don’t know how long this thing will regroup and multiply for but about 7 days after the first symptoms seems to be popular...this is day 7.

I check o2 levels daily

Get healthy again soon, mathjak. Perhaps one of the previously unknown side effects of Covid will be a heightened ability to time the markets!! Maybe keep your stats post Covid to give us our first data point.

I also hope your drumming gig comes back in 2021.

Oh wow , long story ......

unfortunately the owner of the groups name . front man and founding member got cancer and died recently during covid .

well i haven't heard any thing since he died a few months ago and i always thought the group would go on as a legacy band since his son is in the group and he was really doing a great job carrying the torch.

but i ran in to a former member of the group at the studio i happen to be at before I got COVID and she told me something i was shocked by .

the groups name and operations were held in a LLC created by the owner of the groups name , and he had signed personal guarantees for loans .

not sure how or why he got the LLC in to such great debt , but his surviving wife said the name can no longer be used or else the group could be sued for the debt that was owed . he evidently was on the verge of declaring bankruptcy it was so much . (for a 2nd time )

so dont know the whole story and out of respect i wont divulge who it was but i thought it was crazy that after a 50 year run , the name has to die with the owner of the groups name and trademark and can no longer be used , not even by his son ..50 years of history down the drain as far as a viable business goes .

it just seems most careers in the music business end up crashing and burning .

my dad was a pro drummer too and he refused to teach me just because of how these careers burn and how unpredictable they can be . so i had to learn on my own .

Ironically my wife and I ordered lunch in to the studio that day for Christmas for the owner .....I believe that is where we got COVID eating at a small table .

Within 2 days I was coughing and he called the same day to say he had chills and a fever....
