Has it always been this way?
And even within those states cities go democrat, rural goes republican. It's almost like a sports rivalry. Michigan and Wisconsin are one of the few areas where rural will go blue ocassionally.

I think to avoid any conflict in this country, Biden needs more than 270. Otherwise, it will put a lot more attention on the SCOTUS for mail-in ballots, recounts, and faithless electors. It just takes one Democrat elector to write-in for Bernie Sanders... then Biden is at 269. Then it would go to the House for a Trump victory.

I think you could have a lot of violence as any of those situations play out (which is actually rather silly... considering that it is pretty obvious that Washington will remain grid-locked for the next couple years regardless of who wins the oval office).

When the House votes for the president, each state gets 1 vote. In that situation, the Republicans have the majority.

Former New Jersey governor and top Trump ally Chris Christie voiced disagreement overnight with President Trump’s election night remarks prematurely declaring victory and attacking legitimate vote counting efforts. Christie said Trump “undercut his own credibility.”

“There’s just no basis to make that argument tonight. There just isn’t. All these votes have to be counted that are in now,” Christie said during a panel on ABC News moments after Trump’s remarks, noting that the vote count in Pennsylvania will continue for days and “that argument’s for later.”
He continued, “I disagree with what he did tonight. And I think Sarah is right that, you know, there comes a point where you have to let the process play itself out before you judge it to have been flawed. And I think by prematurely doing this, if there is a flaw in it later, he has undercut his own credibility in calling attention to that flaw.”

Christie, who said he was speaking from his experience as a former US attorney, argued that Trump had made a “bad strategic decision” and a “bad political decision.”

And it's not the kind of decision you would expect someone to make tonight who holds the position he holds,” he added.

No president has ever before tried to undermine public confidence in the integrity of our elections through a campaign of prevarication and outright lies for their political gain. I detest this vile and wicked man with every fiber of my being.
Trump just finished speaking. Now his puppet is speaking. Trump IS ALL you describe above. Truly despicable.

9:30: Trump campaign officials tell reporters that "if all legally cast ballots are counted, we believe the president will win." They continue to describe Fox News, AP calls of Arizona for Biden as "just plain wrong."

Yeah, Pelosi would be pissed. Or would she?

Having had a Trump president made her the face of the party. Biden as president means that she has to take a backseat. Politicians are slimy.

Biden looks strong in Michigan, wisconsin and nevada. I think he might pull this off.

Although I remember when John daly won the british open in 1995 only to have Constantino Rocca sink 100 foot putt over a 10 foot ridge on the last hole after chunking his approach shot to match him. Daly crushed in playoff but still, unexpected shit happens sometimes.

Trump is priming his base. It is in his strategic advantage to make his supporters feel like they were "robbed". The only way to make someone feel "robbed" is to have already given them something (via a speech that you already won).

Pelosi is weird. Not a fan...actually I really don't like the democrats at all. If Biden wins I think many of you will be shocked by my criticisms of him. It's just I cannot with Trump...all time worst, by far. I cannot stand windbags like him... .followed closely by a cadre of other republican scumbags Mcconnell and Graham most notably. Although I hate to admit it, and realize the potential of government to improve life, I think humans might be too stupid and power hungry to wield it responsibly. Maybe reaching for the sun will melt our wings in the end.

Yes, the worst nightmare was the "blue wave" that would hand over undivided government. Doesn't look like there's any way that can happen now.

+100

I posted previously about that study out of Purdue that showed that, historically, citizens of "good" democratic-type societies ultimately suffered more than those under dictatorships. The collapse of a good-society is just as inevitable, but much more harsh.

I am perfectly fine with being called one by this definition:

Liberal: adjective

--favorable to progress or reform, as in political or religious affairs.
--(often initial capital letter) noting or pertaining to a political party advocating measures of progressive political reform.
--of, pertaining to, based on, or advocating liberalism, especially the freedom of the individual and governmental guarantees of individual rights and liberties.
--favorable to or in accord with concepts of maximum individual freedom possible, especially as guaranteed by law and secured by governmental protection of civil liberties.

Much of that defines classical liberalism, which would be close to libertarian. In the US, "liberal" typically means "socialist".

Yes, by traditional definition the United States was founded on liberal principles. But its definition has been completely rewritten to mean absolutely nothing except person I don't like. Cretins like Hannity repeat it over and over like some cultlike religious mantra to brainwash idiots.

The whole thing is really so sad.

I remember watching Jo Jorgensen (libertarian) being interviewed on Fox a couple hours before the last Trump/Biden debate.

They asked her how she felt about not being able to participate in the debate because she didn't have enough votes in the necessary polls.

She replied that they refused to let her name even appear on those polls.

2 party system = 1 party system :'(

We all lose.

Id probably classify myself as that as well...however, i take exception to the way that American libertarians support government protections and special provisions for corporations over those of individuals.
