Contrarianism

Post by Smith1776 » Tue Sep 17, 2019 6:48 pm

Contrarianism. It's the quality that is often touted as being necessary for being a successful investor. The ability to detach yourself from the crowd temperamentally and do the opposite of what one's instincts and emotions are telling them to do.

This is a quality that almost every investor enunciates and pays lip service to, but seldom follows through with.

Ladies and gents of the forum, I present to you the ultimate paragon of this self-discipline and control.

I have found THE ULTIMATE intelligent investor:

Watch the whole thing (it's short), and enjoy. ^-^ ^-^ ^-^ ^-^ ^-^ ^-^ ^-^ ^-^ ^-^ ^-^
I still find the James Rickards portfolio fascinating.

Value investors mocked the Facebook IPO, but it's outperformed?

Facebook is therefore a "Costanza Stock".

I'm officially coining that term on this forum.

While I'm at it I think I'm going to start building up my Costanza Wallet by packing it with my gold bullion.
I still find the James Rickards portfolio fascinating.

If you think about it, value investing is only possibly if everyone else is wrong but you are right. It's like contrarianism is the simplified superstitious version of expert value investing.
