Index investing, downside to what Jack Bogle accomplished

What are your thoughts on losing the proxy vote for all the shares you hold of your index fund companies?

Who has the time to actively manage a portfolio of stocks and pay enough attention to each holding to cast a knowledgeable vote for the board of directors? Not me. I don't think I ever made such a vote when I did hold some stocks. And if it was a one-share one-vote deal I never owned enough to make the slightest difference.

Update: Upon further reflection I think I was probably showing my naivete in thinking the author of that piece was actually recommending A DIY portfolio as opposed to index funds. Much more likely he is trying to promote active management for a fee - in which case I can see why he doesn't like Mr. Bogle.
