European ETF Alternatives

I'm based in the EU, been running a US-based (USD) PP for about 6 months spread in ETFs.

I am now looking at diversifying further by buying specific sector/industry-tracking ETFs (such as VGT, FINX, etc.)

However, due to a recent change in regulation, I cannot trade most of the ETFs I'm interested in. Spoke to my broker and they said I can keep my open positions indefinitely, but I'd have to find alternative ETFs, based in Europe, that fulfill the regulation criteria and can be traded by European investors.

I suspect some of the people who participate in this forum have had to deal with the same challenge, so I'm wondering if there's an easy way to look for and find such alternatives?

Consumer protection supposedly, but it might also be a veiled attempt to prop the European ETF scene:

I'd guess these are broker restrictions. Open an account with another and it should work. Be aware of estate taxes since you are buying US-domiciled ETFs.

I'd guess these are broker restrictions. Open an account with another and it should work. Be aware of estate taxes since you are buying US-domiciled ETFs.

Unfortunately, not broker restrictions, but just a decision by US fund managers not to comply (at least for now) with EU regulation. It seems things might change at some point in the next year though...

To protect the customer. The products of the EFT provider should be in the language of the buyer of the EFT. So if you live in Norway the EFT product information should be in Norwegian. I doubt if Vanguard knows where Norway is. So it is stupid antique regulation. English should be sufficiënt.
