Sorry about the paywall. I have tried creating archives from archive.is in the past, but without much success.
The subheadline is Software developers scan hundreds of millions of emails of users who sign up for email-based services.

No, I haven't. While I may occasionally paste full text to a few family members or friends, I think I'd rather have a pointless post than do it on a mass scale. But no offense taken.

Bots reading my mail and scanning my photos and listening to me on Alexa.
Have at it. My life is pretty boring. If they think I will suddenly have the urge to buy male enhancement pills or some such other advertised product I don't need, they are mistaken.
I do like the latest radio ads for whatever the Viagra competition currently is. "Like Viagra on steroids" is the tagline. And they caution, don't take more than the recommended amount because your partner might not be able to handle it. Hah. Good marketing, at least for getting a laugh from me.

Corto: I'm fine with bots scanning my email for keywords and then plugging it into an algorithm, but the article details humans reading through emails. For example, employees of Edison, makers of a popular gmail app for mobile devices.
Saints: I heard Pamela Adlon (voice of Bobby) talking about it in a recent interview. Btw, there's no paywall for the stream- it's Bullseye on NPR. When the interviewer played the clip, she mentioned that people have tattoos of it and I just had to look.

Old news I guess, but Yahoo/AOL/Oath are doing it, too.

An older friend of mine was still using an AOL address until recently, just like in the boglehead thread that mentions aol/yahoo/oath and verizon.
