I wonder if the World Gold Council might be a good source of vendors.
They're at www.gold.org (Specifically, http://www.gold.org/investment/why_how_ ... mall_bars/
)
Monex is on that list. I haven't read about monex on this forum, nor have I used them, but a friend of mine has.
Most ideas in the pp strategy are timeless. However, I think we need to update the 'Where to Buy' responses every so often, as dealers sometimes change hands, as well as practices and policies.

Re: Gold: Where to Buy - Update
I used Monex, but it was a few years ago. The only local gold dealer I knew about was very nasty and angry with me when I wanted to buy some, because he didn't have any and said that "nobody" had any. Well, Monex sure did, but they charged a sales commission on top of the premium simply due to my ordering on the phone (this was something I did not expect), so I am unlikely to ever use them again. Also, apparently supplies WERE sparse, because they kept calling me, telling me that while my shipment would be delayed, it was "on the way" but this kept going on for several weeks, to the extent that I wondered if indeed I ever would get it. But yes, the shipment did finally arrive.
They get a terrible rating with the Better Business Bureau, because people keep filing complaints that they get "sold" into falling for an on-margin gold-buying plan, but nobody reading THIS forum would ever fall for that, would they?
I am glad to see this updated list; I see that there may be a local dealer I can use in the future (since I admit the shipping of the gold does make me rather nervous....).

That's good to know about monex, thanks. Although the BBB itself has fallen under scrutiny lately, that doesn't mean people don't have justified complaints about monex. I didn't like the margin section of their site, either. Too bad, I thought they might be a good vendor.
Haven't heard anything but positive talk about California Numismatic Investments. I might have to try them out if I don't switch to Tulving.
EDIT: sell price on krugs looks good!

Has anyone here ever used Northwest Territorial Mint? If so, just wondering what you thought of their service, prices, "mark up over spot", etc? Thanks.
Re: Gold: Where to Buy - Update
NWTM charges very high premiums that are way above average. Compare their prices to well known companies like Gasinesville Coins or Provident and you will see. Most gold forums I've visited also complain they take literally months to actually deliver their precious metals.bob wrote: Has anyone here ever used Northwest Territorial Mint? Don't do it.

Tulving is fair and does what it says it will do. No complaints.
