According to the talking heads the large drop today in high fliers like Tesla is simply big money managers freeing up cash to purchase Alibaba on Friday. So Friday might be a good time to buy more Tesla or Facebook or Amazon or Netflix, etc.

Well, you could do a lot worse than Tesla.  Even I'm a fan of Musk now.  If Tesla makes it, it will literally change the world.  You don't get many opportunities like that in a lifetime.

Dollarwise, it's so small thatthe answer is never. I will never sell the shares. They'll probably go to my wife or nephew in 2070 or whenever I croak.
Sorry, dear nephew. Today is the day.

Ok. It's time to talk about the elephant in Tesla's living room, Elon Musk. Everyone is entitled to an off day. We all have moments when we want to scream because life is unfair, or whatever. But I think Musk's pattern of erratic behavior has reached the point where reasonable people are justified in wondering if this guy doesn't have some issues of a more serious nature. I have never had any position in Tesla. But if I did, I think I would be heading for the exit after this... https://www.cnbc.com/2018/09/07/tesla-s ... -exit.html. I don't want to psychoanalyze the guy, but I can say as a layman, that his recent conduct is not normal and I have lost confidence in his ability to run the company. And to move off from Tesla for a moment, who wants to be the first guy to climb into space ship built by a dude who video records himself smoking left handed luckys? It looks like Elon has found a faster and cheaper way to get into orbit.

We're Probably Living in a Simulation, Elon Musk Says...

I am starting to wonder if he isn't in the early stages of going full blown Charlie Sheen... i.e. some kind of breakdown.

Breaking news... Tesla and Elon Musk are reportedly being accused of fraud by the SEC. Not sure if this is civil or criminal. I don't usually cheer for government regulators but in this case I think some kind of formal response was absolutely required.

Is this from the “taking it private” tweet? I thought that was old news, Ad. Or is the accusation more serious now?

I think the news is that the SEC has filed charges.

Tesla should be valued at less than $100 a share, investor says
Tesla heads into its earnings report out after the bell Wednesday trading at its lowest level in six months.

One strategist said it should get even worse for the electric car maker.

“This is a company that has a cult following – people that believe that [Elon Musk] is changing the world – and that’s the only reason this stock is trading at $260. There is no company that’s better at overpromising and under-delivering than Tesla, ” said Mark Tepper, founder and president of Strategic Wealth Partners, on CNBC’s “Trading Nation ” on Tuesday.

Tepper said its true valuation should be even lower.

“If I were to believe Tesla’s stories, with a 35% projected earnings growth rate, even at a PEG [price/earnings to growth] ratio that’s at a premium to the market, you still can’t value the stock at over $100 a share and $100 is on the very high end,” he said.

Tesla has not traded below $100 since mid-2013. It would need to drop 62% to reach that level.

A storm of headwinds are coming for the company, which could shake the stock, Tepper said. He mentioned an expiring tax credit, which could hurt demand, and increased competition, which means the company is jockeying for customers over price as well as quality.

“Quite frankly my biggest issue is management doesn’t execute on what they say. I don’t need management selling me a bill of goods. I want execution and you’re not getting that from Tesla,” said Tepper.

I wonder if Greg has seen the"Tesla to $4000" hype.

I won't be getting back in to this stock, but I wish I could get my octogenarian Dad into a Tesla. He'd be safer.
