Cool! I don't remember Saul, but I've only watched up to the fifth season. How many seasons did it run for? Netflix may not have 'em all up yet.MangoMan wrote: Yes! A long awaited spinoff. Saul was arguably the best character on BB besides Walter and Jesse.

Oh yes!!! Classic. I'd say he tops even Sean Penn in Carlito's Way!MangoMan wrote: Saul is the sleazy lawyer that Walt uses for all of his shenanigans played by Bob Odenkirk. Statue of Liberty on his rooftop. You can't have watched 5 seasons and not know Saul.

I watched the whole series on Netflix while I was off during Christmas so I know it's all there. Don't remember how many seasons there were but keep watching until you see WW die (and I'm sure that's not a spoiler).MachineGhost wrote: Cool! Re: Better Call Saul
Better Call Saul is the prequel to Breaking Bad. It takes place 6 years prior to BB's origin. I saw a small clip where Mike, the tough guy that WW ends up whacking in Breaking Bad, is a toll collector and gets in an argument with Saul. It was good to see the both of them. This show should be a hit.

Thanks for the heads up!
I hope it turns out to be a good show. It's been my screenname on weChat for a long time now. Wait, my screenname or my ID? I never can tell.

Re: Better Call Saul
The 2 skateboard guys reminded me of the 2 low brow drug dealers on BB. They made the show.
Re: Better Call Saul
I'm liking the show so far.
The show's overall story arc has a couple of interesting parallels with Breaking Bad. The protagonist:
- Starts out down on his luck, just getting by at a job that seems to be beneath his true capabilities
- Runs into financial difficulties that prompt him to start thinking more "creatively" about ways to make more money
- Becomes increasingly involved in illegal activities as he starts to realize how lucrative they can be
- Starts out in a humorously antagonistic relationship with someone who eventually becomes a close business associate
There may be other parallels I missed, but those were the main ones that jumped out at me. Although Better Call Saul is very different from Breaking Bad in many ways, there's definitely a thematic similarity between the two shows' "formulas."
I hope the show continues to throw in some unexpectedly tense and dangerous moments, because I think that's where Saul Goodman's fast-talking antics really shine as comic relief.

The handgun that was shoved in Saul's face- was that a Taurus Judge, the one that takes shotgun shells?

Re: Better Call Saul
I dare say I'm enjoying it at least as much as Breaking Bad. Is that blasphemy? Love the characters, esp. Michael McKean's. He's come a long way since Lenny & Squiggy.AdamA wrote: How good is this show?

A young Paul Newman dressed as Matlock. ;-)

Re: Better Call Saul
In the most recent episode, I think the guy who bumped into Jimmy in the restaurant bathroom (the big, burly guy with the long beard) was one of the guys on the "wanted" posters from the episode's opening scene when the camera panned down to Jimmy's face.
I'm assuming it means he'll make an appearance in a later episode, but maybe not. I guess we'll see.

I noticed the same thing.Tortoise wrote: I think the guy who bumped into Jimmy in the restaurant bathroom (the big, burly guy with the long beard) was one of the guys on the "wanted" posters from the episode's opening scene when the camera panned down to Jimmy's face.
I also thought it was funny the way the camera pans down in such a way as to make it look almost like Saul was one of the most wanted (which he may currently be given the FBI probably heavily investigated the circumstances surrouding Walt's death).
I loved Mike's 5 minute stakeout scene.

I couldn't understand how or why I missed that opening scene to which you guys are referring. Twice. Now I know: show starts five minutes before the hour!
And not just the rerun at 9 EST. the new one too!

Excellent. I think a lot of people aren't interested because there's no Walt (Cranston), but the writing and acting is still so good.Reub wrote: I started watching again after returning from my cruise. Thoroughly enjoyable!

In many ways it's better than Breaking Bad because it's a lot funnier, but no less entertaining as a drama.dualstow wrote:Excellent. Not quite as dark, is it? A little darkness from Chuck, but nowhere near "Crawlspace."MediumTex wrote: In many ways it's better than Breaking Bad because it's a lot funnier, but no less entertaining as a drama.

Re: Better Call Saul
A great episode of BCS tonight! Mike is definitely the star but close behind is Tuco and Jimmy's brother. Mike is a very deep character indeed!
