Cinco de Mayo Bicentennial

Post by ochotona » Sun May 05, 2019 8:07 pm

USA defaults on 1.1 quadrillion debt, May 5th, Cinco De Mayo, 2062. Brave Seattle residents resist Chinese Red Army trying to seize Amazon HQ, shotguns loaded with Starbucks coffee beans. Pitched battles near Pike Place Market.

I am shocked, Chinese drivers are usually very sedate. Did your car get totaled, perhaps, by your running into the back of the other car which was going "too slowly"? ;)

Get out of my head, AOC!

My daughter-in-law is Chinese. According to her, they are all horrible drivers (except herself, of course) and her mother is living proof. :P

Seems like the problem is many can't see over the top of the steering wheel. :D

It depends how much you drive and what your criteria are.
To die, to sleep;
To sleep: perchance to dream: ay, there's the rub;
For in that sleep of death what dreams may come

You probably value your money, your time, and your sanity. Pick two and don't let the third stop you from making a reasonable deal and moving on with your life.

Or buy from one of the manufacturers that have no-haggle pricing like Hyundai or Tesla. Also, if you have a Costco membership, their buying service is awesome and hassle-free. You will get a great deal (although probably not as good as if you do the deal yourself and are a really good negotiator) at a preset price.

USAA also has a car-buying service. Wouldn't be surprised if other credit union-type things do too.

I thought I'd negotiated a good deal on my new 2012 Volvo XC60. Almost at the last minute I asked if Costco buying service would give me a better deal. The salesman said, no worries, we will take an additional $500 off without you having to start over with Costco. :o Guess my negotiating skills were not as good as I thought. ;)

I can guarantee you if you had started over with Costco you would have saved more than another $500 or the dealer would not have been so accommodating. Now whether the additional couple of hundred bucks you might have saved would have been worth the additional time and drama is another question.

Even when I think I got a great deal, I am always second guessing myself afterward. These guys haggle cars for a living. You can't ever win at their game.
