Crazy. That’s like US$220K to start. Where did a 23-yr-old get that kind of money? From his last mowing job? O0

It's safe to bet he bought the land with a mortgage ("get the deposit together" quote from second article; I guess 'deposit' means 'down payment' Down Under). So if his deposit/down payment was, say, 25% (A$ 77,500) and his take was 439,000-310,000= 129,000.

Aussie-uming real estate fees are about 6%, or 26,340, which would leave him with about the profit he said he made, 102,660, and his 77,500 plus whatever principal payments he made.
