Same experience as you, pug. I have tried others, but I always go back to google.
DMOZ or whatever it was called, was a neat idea with unuseful results.
I use duckduckgo...to search google.

I suspect he means he uses DDG to search for results that Google would filter out, IE the Brian Stelter meme:



Incidentally, DDG and Google both returned pretty much the same results when I looked for that image.

If you use Google like a research aid, like typing a general query about something you don't know about and relying on Google to bring you ALL the relevant sites.. maybe that is something to be wary of. I wasrecently trying to find more information about a specific video I came across, and the Google results contained mostly the opposite of what I was searching for (SJW-approved fare, irrelevant), whereas DDG was much closer to the mark.

You can use duck to search google without having your search results remembered- slightly off topic, but the main point is that I need google’s results. Not bing, not yahoo...

Of course, you can delete your google search results, but google doesn’t really delete anything.

For google via duckduckgo, I assume that the results are tweaked by google. It’s logical.
Now that I know about these SJW shenanigans, I may occasionally try a pure duck2go search afterwards.

No, it does not seem to. I use Startpage for anonymity, a add on to Firefox is available.
If Google was from a Communist country with the same algos would we still use it, what is our search information worth ?
How about if it is Russia ? If the answer is Yes try https://yandex.com/search with different algos.

The Startpage.com website says they've been profitable since 2004. How are they making money?

Sort of ironic that our internet security system at work (Cisco Umbrella) blocks Startpage's anonymous viewer "browse.startpage.com".

That's no fun, but I guess I can see how it could be abused.
