^ Wow. That is insane, Maddy!
Has anyone posted about
Steven Wilson, the founder of
Ascend schools? He got fired for a supposedly white supremacist blog post, which was really just an essay about classical education. He mildly attacked both the left and the right in it, but got into hot water when he decried the attack on "whiteness."
This is a gay white guy who founded a school which helps underprivileged people of all races. He was fired by a largely white board. In fact, the one African American on the board resigned in protest when they got rid of Wilson!
A board member named Ahmed Ahmed who is himself no dummy*, led the charge, although he was quoted in the New York Times as stating the firing was not his intent.
• Atlantic piece, by the always level-headed linguist John McWhorter:

• NYT: Yes, even the Times calls out cancel culture sometimes!

* I peeked at Ahmed Ahmed's LinkedIn. Has an educational background in applied physics. After that, he went into education and became the dean of a different school before joining Ascend. Looks like he didn't stick around Ascend after Wilson's ouster. Now he works at Boston University in a department called "Overcoming Racism" or something like that. Hmm.
