I miss Trebek’s enunciations already. End of an era.

THE ELECT: THE THREAT TO A PROGRESSIVE AMERICA FROM ANTI-BLACK ANTIRACISTS
I don’t think John McWhorter means any offense to the deeply religious, nor do I when I post it. It’s pitch perfect in my opinion.

McWhorter is a genius and one of my favorite people to listen to, despite being as he describes a "cranky liberal Democrat". And it's all because he's one of a small number of voices willing to say true things, rather than the "right" things, about race.
I know his arguments about antiracism as a religion are couched in a mostly anti-religious context. Even reading them as a religious person, his points remain pretty much valid, and it's easy to interpret them as saying that antiracism as a religion detracts from and competes against true religion, which I believe it does.
Everyone has a religion (or "worldview" if you like) and McWhorter is writing from the perspective of his atheistic-materialistic-scientism outlook, which is just another religion, so his complaints against "religion" in general still apply to himself, and really the essay is describing how antiracism detracts from and competes against true religion. You can just plug in whichever true religion you want.
I do wonder what it would be like for somebody who is a member of the Church of Woke to read that.
