No he didn't say how it'd be paid for, but he advocated for it. Which isn't fundamentally different than advocating for a massive perma-war surveillance state or any other idea without saying how they'd pay for it, which presidents & congress have been doing for years, so we're really not talking about anything new, including that both Kennedy and some modern dems believe in state-run universal coverage.

It does seem that way most Politicians are for spending Other People's Money, but hay there is more where that came from Right.
I would like to see them advocate to "establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our posterity."

I think it may be more of a Medical Monopoly problem than an Insurance problem.

Regarding your last line? What else do we purchase where we do not know until AFTER the service is provided? Keeping us all in the dark seriously limits shopping around for the best value.

That's fairly much a different definition than the one that I found. However, since it is your word (which ( had never prior seen) we'll stick with your definition.

And, if it all that means: "Alert to injustice in society, especially racism", then I'd consider that an excellent value or trait to have. Of course anything taken to its extreme may not be a good thing. Perhaps that is what you are reacting to?

And, as far as hearing the Democratic candidates and what they have to say? 1) I generally do not see the debates live because live baseball games (and, even the post game shows) and, now, basketball games are always going to take precedent. I do try to later listen to them later online. 2) I'm generally going to be paying the most attention to my top four (Yang, Buttigieg, Klobuchar, and Gabbard) and less attention to those in the next three categories. 3) Are my top four guilty of what you say? For the most part I think I have only heard Gabbard during the debates. The other three I've either heard frequently on the five Sunday news shows or in a long, long segment on C-Span. 4) I'd have to say the Harris and Warren are in the my third category and Bernie my fourth for probably many of the same reason that you (and others here) do not like them. For me, it's mainly financial with them. Give. Give. Give!

You are making a universal statement for the entire country? Or, in what the Democrats are saying? I assume it is the former?

And so no, this does not describe Trump or any other Republicans I am aware of. It does, however describe many of the far left and even middle left politicians in the Democratic party, much of the media including late night talk show hosts and even many (sadly) ESPN correspondants, and all kinds of activists. I do have Warren in my third category, which means that while she does not appeal to me at all, I don't totally detest her. That means she is just one above NEVER. But that still keeps her, on balance, as being superior to Trump.

I just cannot supports sloths as presidents (and I don't like here being pejorative towards a set of animals but I cannot think of a better description). Trump fits the Reagan, 2nd Bush tradition of wanting and having the office but refusing to put in the time necessary to fulfill the duties of the position. I have worked with so many other people in such lesser positions who have been far more dedicated to fulfilling the duties of their jobs than this trio of presidents have.

The fact that Warren became a law professor tells me that she is either brilliant and it required no work on her part to get there or she is no stranger to hard work and embraced the work necessary to fulfill her responsibilities / goals. In either case that makes her superior to Trump.

I had a short discussion with my Dad (87) lifelong Democrat, until Obama/Trump. Impossible to say anything bad about Trump around him. All a witch hunt. Fox News is doing its job for sure.

I see Trump yesterday belittle everything about Chicago while in Chicago. Now, Chicago isn't perfect by any stretch but this encapsulates why I despise the guy at times. There is not a shred of compassion or decency in the guy. Zero. You want to vote for him again because he's doing some other things the way you want, go right ahead. I can't stand him anymore. All about him, 24 hours a freakin day.

What did he take about an hour taking credit for Baghdadi as well? Everyone else sucks. Now he wants negative interest rates too. Wish my Dad could understand what that means, being invested only in CDs.

Now you have lifelong well respected military guy on the phone call testifying. Of course, now he's a Never Trumper, and being cut down. Ruthless. Can't wait to see what he says about Bolton when he's up there. At some point I would hope the republicans figure this out. All running scared. Say anything bad, he will destroy your career.

I think the historical question will always be asked, what more could Trump have gotten done if he just had a little bit less hubris, a little more humility, and a little more humanity to go along with his supposed great wisdom and amazing deal making skills.

His skills in building his real estate empire must have has a lot to do with being able to bully anyone and everyone to get his way. Doesn't work that way in Washington, or at least not forever.

My main interest in basketball is how the Boston Celtics perform on the court. All the rest is quite peripheral to that and, thus, don't pay a lot of attention to it.

And, since I stopped watched EPSN's Sports Center decades and decades and decades ago (I have since been referring to it as "Clown Center") I only have ESPN on if it is the only way I can see one of my team's games. So, once again, I'm not paying attention to anything else they are espousing.

Correct. This identity politics is going on nationwide.

Since you are a basketball fan, I'm not sure how you could be oblivious to all of this. The NBA and ESPN have basically staked their reputations on their wokeness. It turned out awful for ESPN and they are now trying to dig themselves out of the hole they dug by drastically changing company policy. The NBA is now feeling the first effects of their stupidity with the whole China/Hong Kong mess, but their revenue and ratings have already been in a downward trajectory for years. Politics have no place in sports.

Since I now work in a non-profit where I am almost certain that there is not a simple person there who voted for Trump, I'm surprised I'd never heard anyone say this word until I first read it here during the last week or so.

Suppose there is a very wealthy man who is a patriot. He gives up a life of ease and comfort without any significant criticism from any part of society in order to protect the country he loves against what he sees as an existential threat to its well-being.
How should this man respond when he is accused of betraying his country, despite the total lack of any evidence?
I know how I would respond in that case.

--Absolutely. Anyone here have kids in the house, say age 5-18? I cringe thinking about how he represents America and himself and how that might affect what they think about right and wrong. A simple point is how quickly he turns on anyone who has any level of disagreement with him. There's no level headed debate. You instantly end up being called a loser, in the gutter, and earn a 5th grade bully nickname.

Any poor news becomes Fake News. Press is the Enemy of the People. Shithole countries. Everyone's a loser (at least in 154 tweets). Likes people who weren't captured. Women are unattractive. Ex CEOs are dumb as a rock. Mexicans are rapists and killers. He golfs more than Obama ever did. Calls many lowlifes. Go back to your country.

--Does he love the country? Or just himself?
--How many respected people need to testify about this phone call before it becomes real? It won't for some, right, because the call was "perfect" How many people will he denigrate along the way? I truly believe if Melania was on the call and said there was quid pro quo, he'd throw her under the bus as well.

***If he had the capability to be more presidential, which was my and lots of other people's hope, then I bet the shitstorm that perpetually surrounds him would be greatly reduced, and a lot of this backroom dealing would be left alone. He is his own worst enemy.

Maybe we should be teaching kids not to trust politicians. The pro-trump argument (which Im not sure the trumpsters here are making) is that he's simply a wrench in the works and is preventing government expansion.

Really? This is what concerns you most? You must be living in a different reality than I am.

What is sufficiently "presidential" behavior when you're singlehandedly battling a thoroughly corrupt political establishment bent upon destroying every last vestige of America's culture and values and which has already succeeded in nearly completely eviscerating the rule of law and the fundamental constitutional protections upon which this nation was built?
