Who Owns the Various Presidential Candidates---Check it Out
What we have found over and over is that the interests that finance a politician's campaign are the interests that can expect to be taken care of if that candidate is elected.
I thought I would start off with Ted Cruz.
His two largest individual campaign contributors are Woodforest Financial Group and Goldman Sachs, which means that the financial industry views him as someone they can do business with and who will protect their interests. No surprise there, but it's a little out of step with some of his comments about the financial industry, which I assume we can take as meaningless campaign rhetoric. With respect to Goldman Sachs especially, the fact that his wife's Goldman Sachs salary pays his household expenses and Goldman Sachs contributions fund his political campaigns makes me think that Goldman Sachs could expect to be treated well by Ted Cruz, no matter what office he holds.
Other than the financial industry, the other major industry that Cruz has taken the most money from is the oil and gas industry.
So if you are predicting who Cruz will work hardest to protect going forward, the financial industry and the oil and gas industry are probably safe bets.

Dan Carlin made a suggestion that I thought was brilliant.
What he suggested is that when the news shows interview politicians, they should put up a graphic of where their campaign contributions in the last cycle came from. The graphic would be put up like an athlete's stats are put up during games when they are talking about the player.
The strongest indicator of what any politician will do is the source of his campaign financing. Nothing else really matters very much, including what the voters want.
To paraphrase the great Bud Bundy: "Would I rather have votes or campaign contributions? That's easy. Campaign contributions. I can always rent votes."

Guess which industry owns Marco Rubio?
The securities and investment industry, to the tune of $10 million in contributions so far.
No real surprise there I guess.

Interestingly, although Ted Cruz's largest individual donors are from the financial services industry, when you trace the source of all of his contributions, what you find is that he is actually owned by the real estate industry, which has contributed around $26 million to his campaign.
I wonder what's up with that.

Take a look at Trump and you can see why the establishment is so afraid of him: https://www.opensecrets.org/pres16/indu ... 864&type=f
Almost no money from anyone other than himself and small contributors.

Fat Boy Christie is a Wall Street stooge to the tune of $7 million in contributions. Imagine that.

Fiorina, Kasich and Carson all look reasonably clean. No one industry dominates their contributions, though Kasich's #1 contributor is the financial services industry, but it's only $1.3 million and it's not dramatically larger than the rest of the industries making large contributions to him.
Surprisingly, Rand Paul's largest contributor is the financial services industry, to the tune of $4.4 million, which is almost as much as the next four industries that contributed to his campaign combined.

Oh lordy, that dull whore Jeb Bush has taken $34 million from the financial services industry and $11 million from the Insurance industry.
All I can say is that they bought a dud. They should ask for a refund.

Sounds like the financial services industry is just being pragmatic. No matter who wins (except Trump & Sanders perhaps) they have favors to call in.

By Andy Borowitz
WASHINGTON "The Borowitz Report" - Introducing a new wrinkle into the already fraught fiscal cliff showdown, a consortium of billionaires today warned that if their taxes are raised they will no longer have enough money to buy politicians.
The group, led by casino billionaire Sheldon Adelson, commissioned a new study showing that the cost of an average politician has soared exponentially over the past decade.
