CA Passes Bill Requiring Permit to Buy Ammo

Post by rocketdog » Mon Jun 24, 2013 12:55 pm

Just got back from a 10-day vacation last night (with no Internet access the whole time, hence my MIA status on the forums).  I'm swamped trying to catch up at work, but this story caught my eye so I thought I'd log in quick and share:

I'll catch up on the forums over the next week or two as life returns to normal.
The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.

Yeah, the CA senate has passed a bunch of bad gun bills and is expected to pass more. The assembly is less likely to also pass them, for a variety of reasons. I'd still give any individual bill a greater than 50% chance of passing, but it's not virtually assured like it is with the Senate. Then it's up to guv Browne to veto anything that squeaks through, and Browne is a gun owner himself and has vetoed gun bills in the past, but he's a Democrat so he probably can't get away with vetoing everything.
Human behavior is economic behavior. The particulars may vary, but competition for limited resources remains a constant.
