Yes, agree on all songs you named.

The guitarist in this video did an excellent solo (and Jimmy Page seemed be agreeing as he was watching and listening to it!).

Matjak!

How is this for a lot of old guys doing the playing??!!

And, how do you evaluate each of the three drummers. As I write this I'm watching the younger guy do the longest solo. Sounds fine to my ears!

Any Metallica fans here?

Love to see the young ones upholding the greatness of music originally created long before they were even born!

I like Metallica.
Was supposed to see them in Moscow with a bunch of my English students but I had to bow out. Wish I had made it.

I saw them once.

And, they did one song. The same song as was in the video - Enter Sandman.

In 2013 I went to Mariano Rivera Day at Yankee Stadium.

Every time he entered a game at Yankee Stadium they would play Enter Sandman as he was coming to the pitcher's mound.

While I was waiting for the ceremonies to start, I asked one of the usher's if Metallica was going to be there to play that song live. She said that they would.

This is the actual performance I saw that day!

Flag raising on a New York skyscraper February 17, 1926. When patriotism still meant something and New Yorkers had balls of tempered steel. (appx 3 minutes)

If you don't mind me asking. Why? Is the US society better/worse than then?
As an aside I remember looking at my Grandmothers "1901 Young Women's Handbook"
First few pages had photos of the British Royalty and even the Czar and Czarina of Russia.

With a few commonsense exceptions we are far worse off. Conceding the advantages of modern medicine, I like being in my 50s, alive and with most of my teeth, and I appreciate living in a world where most of my fellows understand the virtues and pleasures of regular bathing, but we have lost so much. And I too have a picture of the imperial family over my desk.

Well, I must admit I was surprised at how well dressed everyone was. My elderly mother still cannot get over the concept that stores sell "pre-ripped" jeans :)

On the site Kriegspiel found there is also a movie from Moscow in the 1890's

Also an elderly gent I sent the video to commented that people are much less religious today. He said that during his youth and in his Grandparents time, almost everyone went to church. They lived in a small rural town, so it may have been different in larger cities.

Thanks! That comes from the year I was born. Until I just saw this now I had NO idea how long those drills had already been going on prior to my personal involvement in practicing saving ourselves from an atomic bomb!

I went on youtube thinking, how hard could it be to find Smithers’ act. I’ll just find a guy with a Cantonese family name but a native North American but non-Mexican accent who is in good shape, in Vancouver.

However, I got sidetracked by all the offerings from just a few keywords. This woman cracked me up! 😂
