YouTube Junkie

Post by Gosso » Sun Feb 19, 2012 4:58 pm

Hello, my name is Gosso and I have an addiction to YouTube...and I have no desire to stop  ;D

I thought it would be fun for people to post some of their favourite YouTube clips, or clips that they are currently enjoying.  Try to keep them under 5 minutes, since this is meant to be quick and dirty fun.

I'll start.  Here's a classic from a band I have recently discovered called Ween.  In this clip they perform their song 'Freedom of '76' (Gene has the voice of an angel!), and it also involves one of the most awkward interviews ever ...enjoy!

Next up is from the Canadian hero Don Cherry (he's our hockey version of John Madden).  I never knew he was so talented!

Here's one I recently came across.

It's just a guy dancing, but it's funny.  It's under two minutes.

Hahah, that's good stuff!

I have been re-listening to the Them Crooked Vultures album--they are a super group combining Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, and Led Zeppelin:

Here's how the magic happened:

Here's the end result (volume needs to be cranked):

Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac: Jumping at Shadows

In his prime Peter Green was the one guitarist BB King considered as serious competition. This is one but one example if you like your blues with a feeling. ;D

Here's one I like because it shows us what a Renaissance man Orrin Hatch it.  It's about 2 minutes long.

not quite the short silly fun videos this thread is looking for but..  here are two that have got me thinking

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBnniua6-oM  "sugar the bitter truth" a UCFS professor talking about the dietary effects of sugar

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=BoT7qH_uVNo# a ted talk by a pediatrician on the effects of TV on a developing brain

Belief is the death of intelligence. As soon as one believes a doctrine of any sort, or assumes certitude, one stops thinking about that aspect of existence

Is there a logical-fallacy for killing my buzz??  :D

I saw that Robert Lustig video when it first came out--I used to be obsessed with health and nutrition.  He raises a lot of interesting points.  My conclusion from all of it was to go easy on the sugar, but there is no need to completely eliminate it from your diet.  I eat a whole foods diet, but will eat something sweet if I crave it.  I have accepted that my body is smarter than I am--after all I have only been around for 27 years, while my body is the product of millions of years of evolution (and yes i know this doesn't prove anything but it works for my monkey brain).

I don't have much to say about the TEDx video, other than maybe this is just part of our next evolutionary step??

To get this thread back on track I have linked to a video containing the History of Nikola Tesla, told by a drunk person:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gOR91oentQ

I was thinking of making a new thread on Tesla, but I don't know enough about him...yet.
