Vinny you can absolutely plant cool weather loving plants now. If you have a hard freeze that would be an issue, but temps in the upper 30s/40s overnight are not a big deal as the soil won't get as cold. The fact that some plants were already growing nicely in the plot says I could have done this a few weeks ago. My sister lives not too far west of you, and she's planting now too.

I got a seed starter tray for my Aerogarden Sprout, which is a mini hydroponic garden that works great for herbs indoors and doubles as an undercounter light in the kitchen. It lets you start 15 seedlings and it gives them a big jump start. I've got lettuce and arugula in mine, and I'm planning to put those into the garden tomorrow. Then I'm going to start tomatoes and peppers in the Aerogarden. They'll go into the ground sometime in mid to late May.

This morning I did wake up to snow, continual snow up until a while ago, and seeing accumulation! Seems, though, that is has gotten warmer as much that accumulated snow has melted.

What would have happened to the cool weather loving plants during this snow fall?

I want to wake up to snow... though I do not want to shovel it.

It snowed here recently. I have some lettuce seeds growing in pots outside that I didn't bother moving indoors; didn't seem to affect them, but time will tell. I'm pretty hands-off with my plants.
You there, Ephialtes. May you live forever.

I went here and put in my zip code:
https://davesgarden.com/guides/freeze-frost-dates/

My results were:

Each winter, on average, your risk of frost is from September 26 through May 13.

Almost certainly, however, you will receive frost from October 9 through April 29.

You are almost guaranteed that you will not get frost from May 27 through September 13.

Your frost-free growing season is around 136 days.

What results do each of you get? I assume that more are longer than 136 days, none shorter?

I don't get it. Is it just a bad English translation?

Almost certainly yes, and probably machine-generated. My favorites are ones like these:

P.S. I made it my mission to track down that penultimate character, 废, and it took me forever. (You know the traditional definition of 'putz' is time-waster. O0 Trying to search phonetically or by visual elements failed, but I finally found success at Google Translate where they let me draw the damn thing, albeit horribly.

Chinese character input re:computing has come a long way.

What is the countdown now? I am guessing 18 days? Or 22?

Once Dualstow surpasses MachineGhost, will he be the user with the most posts on the forum of all time?

Seems to be the case.

Then it will truly be the case of, "All Hail Dualstow!" The full abdication by MachineGhost will have been completed!

Dualstow's contributions to the forum are indeed invaluable.

It does make me sad that Craig and Tex, the progenitors of the forum, are getting surpassed. Their posts being pushed back further and further into archive territory.

Random thought.

We all suspect that Ray Dalio's All-Weather fund and his risk parity philosophy were strongly influenced by Browne.

I just realized it goes further than that though. You know the concept of the PP and VP split? Well, Dalio does that too. His All-Weather fund is his PP, and his Pure Alpha fund (that makes active bets) is his VP.

A little recognition of Browne on the part of Dalio would be nice.

Second random observation.

Kevin O'Leary (Shark Tank guy) has long been known for espousing a dividend philosophy thanks to his mother. Now, we all know on this forum that dividends are not the income he supposes. I'm sure he gets tons of messages, mail, tweets, etc. telling him that he's wrong to think of dividends as income.

It seems he's finally started to change his tune. In his recent interviews and talks I've noticed he's been slyly backing away from the dividend tune. Now he's talking about emphasizing quality stocks that return capital by other methods such as buybacks. The marketing material on his ETFs has been changing lately too.

O'Leary being who he is, I'm sure he'll never admit he was ever wrong, but I suspect behind the scenes he's finally been caught up to date on the logic and math behind dividend irrelevance.

I have their "From the Fires" CD. Their first one? I don't even know how many recordings they have. I think I read that comparison and I think I've only listened to it once and remember not coming to the same judgment. I have it in front of me now and I'll listen to it later tonight and see if my opinion changes.
