constitutional amendment

Post by smurff »

I'm ready for a constitutional amendment forbidding the USA gov from selling off more than a certain (small) percentage of the nation's gold.

I suspect that British taxpayers are ready for the drawing and quartering (or the half-hanging, followed by drawing and quartering)  of a certain prime/finance minister for doing that very deed a decade ago--back when the price briefly dropped to around $200.

As the gold price has reached over $1700 per ounce in a brief period of time (while certain financial analysts were calling for the price to go below $500 this year), the possibility exists that someone in Washington will come up with that idea and do it without much debate or any public hearings.  The three branches of government have become so dysfunctional that they could allow such a thing to happen.
