Build Your Own Raspberry Pi Home Network Content Filter
Above provided by: Vinny, who always says: "I only regret that I have but one lap to give to my cats." AND "I'm a more-is-more person."
Re: Build Your Own Raspberry Pi Home Network Content Filter
I bought a Pi Zero W specifically for this, used an old phone charger to power it and an old sd card; Took about 15 minutes to set up. Works like a charm!
It's a simple dns filter rather than a packet inspector but pretty effective. I find that it still has to block about 15% of network requests even though all the web browsers in the house run Ad blockers. The amount of blocked requests originating from Windows 10 is a bit of an eye opener. Also a bit concerning is the level of device "phoning home" going on while everyone is asleep.
