It sounds a lot like the stuff that had been being written about leaving IL and Chicago in particular to flee the taxation, regulation and the pension debacle over the last 3 years. Now add in the rioting and you're basically nuts if you stay in any big city.

Great read. Having lived in a relatively small Southwestern town all my life, I can't even begin to relate to what he has experienced. I've only visited D.C. once, about 25 years ago. It seemed safe at the time, and we wondered about all day and even into the evening. Sad to say, I would never venture into our Nations' capital again.

I have to say that compared to NYC, DC sounds like it's become a nightmare. It's just not that bad here. I wonder if the author of that piece was over-reacting just a bit....either that or being prophetic. I could be the one who got stuck here by waiting too long to leave, e.g. if the city jacks up taxes with the plan to blow it all on massive social spending for you know who.

If you haven't, you guys should check out some of the videos of rioters in Portland getting arrested. They're so good

They're kinda like regular arrest videos (shaky camera angles, missing shoes, etc), but the people are all entitled shrieking pieces of shit who blurt out bizarre stuff.
