Even though the article author has to keep up the virtue signaling:

I did not fact check the following. Regardless, it is pretty funny and exposes the hypocrisy of the virtue signalers.

........

This is an e-mail sent to Clarence Page of the Chicago Tribune after an article he published concerning a name change for the Washington Redskins.

Dear Mr. Page:

I agree with our Native American population. I am highly jilted by the racially charged name of the Washington Redskins. One might argue that to name a professional football team after Native Americans would exalt them as fine warriors, but nay, nay. We must be careful not to offend, and in the spirit of political correctness and courtesy, we must move forward.

Let's ditch the Kansas City Chiefs, the Atlanta Braves and the Cleveland Indians. If your shorts are in a wad because of the reference the name Redskins makes to skin color, then we need to get rid of the Cleveland Browns.

The Carolina Panthers obviously were named to keep the memory of militant Blacks from the 60's alive. Gone. It's offensive to us white folk.

The New York Yankees offend the Southern population. Do you see a team named for the Confederacy? No! There is no room for any reference to that tragic war that cost this country so many young men's lives. I am also offended by the blatant references to the Catholic religion among our sports team names. Totally inappropriate to have the New Orleans Saints, the Los Angeles Angels or the San Diego Padres.

Then there are the team names that glorify criminals who raped and pillaged. We are talking about the horrible Oakland Raiders, the Minnesota Vikings, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Pittsburgh Pirates!

Now, let us address those teams that clearly send the wrong message to our children. The San Diego Chargers promote irresponsible fighting or even spending habits. Wrong message to our children.

The New York Giants and the San Francisco Giants promote obesity, a growing childhood epidemic. Wrong message to our children. The Cincinnati Reds promote downers/barbiturates. Wrong message to our children.

The Milwaukee Brewers. Well that goes without saying. Wrong message to our children.

So, there you go. We need to support any legislation that comes out to rectify this travesty, because the government will likely become involved with this issue, as they should. Just the kind of thing the do-nothing Congress loves.

As a die-hard Oregon State fan, my wife and I, with all of this in mind, suggest it might also make some sense to change the name of the Oregon State women's athletic teams to something other than "the Beavers" (especially when they play Southern California. Do we really want the Trojans sticking it to the Beavers???

I always love your articles and I generally agree with them.

As for the Redskins name I would suggest they change the name to the "Foreskins" to better represent their community, paying tribute to the dick heads in Washington.
DNA has its own language (code), and language requires intelligence. There is no known mechanism by which matter can give birth to information, let alone language. It is unreasonable to believe the world could have happened by chance.

He and you may think that is over the top.
But at this point I think the virtue signaling is topless.
Oops, that's misogynistic!

If you really think about it, language itself is divisive. It serves mainly to draw distinctions between things, i.e., to conceptually divide them.

For the sake of unification and equality, we must therefore abolish language.

I think somebody should start a new index fund that includes only companies that focus exclusively on creating shareholder value, eschewing all politics and social causes.

This idea was triggered by the story I just read about Disney/ESPN's contract with Colin Kapernick.

In other words they would have to concentrate solely on selling shoes (Nike), sports broadcasting (ESPN), Making movies and running theme parks (Disney) and quit trying to tell us what we are supposed to think or else they will be dropped from the fund.

New York was named after a slave trader, so shouldn't the New York Times take the lead and change their name....

Likewise, the Washington Post. Everybody knows Washington owned slaves so shouldn't they take the lead and change their name too?

No doubt the Democrats were terrible regarding race relations. But it was just about all whites, be they Democrats or Republicans, who had great antipathy towards blacks all during the Civil War and for many decades after. There were few white heroes regarding blacks for centuries.

If you can find any companies like that, you could invest in them yourself.
I don't know whether there are any public companies who won't cave even if they haven't yet. I doubt it.

Yes, I've already mentioned that somewhere. And what about Washington State? That name obviously has to go right away!

It's so much fun taking these totally ridiculous BLM demands and spinning them out to their logical conclusions....

I was thinking about the whole deal with blacks blaming their current plight on slavery, an institution that ended more than 150 years ago. Here's how this is absurd: just about every civilization has at one time or another been subjugated sometime in the past. If blacks can claim special status/excuses because of their past history, why couldn't the following groups of people do the same?

Jewish people (they'd be first on anyone's list!!!)
Native Americans, except for Alaskans as they were never subjugated the way the continental north american tribes were
Palestinians
Maori people of New Zealand and Australia
Northern/Catholic Irish
Armenians
Cambodians
Russia, Ukraine, and all countries formerly part of the Soviet Union & Soviet bloc
Mayan and Aztec people (subjugated by the Spanish)
the Picts (pre-Celtic British people)
Celtic British (after arrival of the Saxons)
Anglo-saxon English (after the Norman Conquest)
Residents of conquered regions of the Roman Empire

These are just a few that came to mind...I'm sure there are many more. So why are American blacks so special??? Subjugation sometime in your past is nearly universal, as it turns out. Amazing how it doesn't seem to correlate with social and material success.
