Most peanut butter has palm oil in it which some dont trust. Check the label for just peanuts and salt as ingredients. Leave it upside down overnight, then stir and store in fridge

Smith, coffee is very hard on the guts...

I buy the no salt version so the only ingredients in the Teddie Boy peanut butter I buy is roasted peanuts.

I love borscht. I don’t know if that’s a stock photo or hers but it looks better than any borscht I’ve ever had.
I thought maybe you’d be introducing her to Hong Kong delights.

All of this borscht talk intrigued me. I'd heard of it but had never thought about it much until now.

Went to look at its ingredients to see if I could eat it.

Unfortunately, it has in in the only vegetable I do not like. Beets! They taste way too vinegary to me.

Strange, as they are quite sugary.

Dual,

So you prefer white borscht? Who would have known. Sounds like a recipe opportunity for non-vinegar Vinny. ;-)

M, I don’t know what that is. Do they use golden beets? I’ve had those in a sandwich at a restaurant. But, I’ve only had red beet borscht. I still find it very sweet.
Look at the sugar count on the wiki page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beetroot

I’m usually not a fan of beets either. I cant stand beet salad, as an example. However when cooked in borscht, the beets take on the flavour of the broth and become delicious!

Sugar beets (grown for production of sugar, not to eat like red beets) are generally white. Sorry for the obtuse comment about white borscht. 😉🤣😇

Microsoft has unveiled AI PCs. Now, I don’t know whether I want one or not, but all I can think about, Vinny, is your yet unused dream machine sitting next to the old one you’re working on. O0

It is not sitting next to it. The one I am using is on this table (sitting on its predecessor). The unused dram machine is under the table next to my right knee.

I had a fleeting though in the last day or two that with this router / modem switchover .. it might be the time to switch computers.

But this one I'm using still works so well. And, it remained in the background for a few years before I started using it while continuing to use its predecessor.

Dualstow, we expect more of you. You accused Vinny of still using his old computer while a new one he spent good money on sits "next to" the old one. Turns out that's not even close to true! It's probably a good 2 feet farther away than that. Please do some more fact checking before posting next time.

For the record, Dualstow, I judge you to still have a high batting average!

Smithers, maybe she doesn’t want to chime in — understandably — but I was wondering if your other half has any thoughts on the war. Does she like/dislike Zelensky? Is she optimistic? Hopeful? Pessimistic? Just curious.

Maximum PC

Post by Smith1776 »

A forum member long ago told me to check out old copies of my favourite magazine as a teenager: Maximum PC.

https://books.google.ca/books?id=5gEAAA ... pc&f=false

I'm currently enjoying this issue where the "ultimate PC" is outfitted with dual Pentium IIIs. O0

Something very satisfying about tech nostalgia. There's a fairly new video about the Texas Instruments computer (TI-99) as a "failure" on youtube, but I and a lot of other people had a great young adulthood learning BASIC on it.

from the Putin-invades-Ukraine thread:

Her vocabulary is a never-ending source of entertainment in our house. ;D
I have an ex who supplied an endless amount of adorable new words, improving upon the English language, in my opinion. She tended to accidentally use words she already knew, so instead of remembering the new 'valet parking' she misremembered it as 'velvet parking.' My parents immediately started calling it velvet and it remains so even to this day. It's just better.

But Mrs S's invention is really clever!

One of the things I miss about the old days was the boatload of discrete components that one could fawn over and customize to no end. Now everything is moving to SoC designs, and it makes the modern computer look more like an appliance rather than something to truly tinker with. I remember back in the day that I had endless conversations about different heatsinks, sound cards, and even fans. Now I'm typing on a laptop that I can't even open without a special screwdriver.

At least I can still tinker with software.
