Nice, Vinny! Is that list from pcpartpicker dot com?
I dream of doing that, but it would have to be a “hackintosh”, and that would be a hassle.

It did come from pcpartpicker though not created by me.

Around 2016 I bought a used computer from someone on Craigslist. Turned out that he's this brilliant person with a PhD in biology who teaches it at the college level. But he also loves computers. I've since bought more used computers from him for me personally or organizations I've been associated with. Some time ago I'd asked him if he'd be willing to custom build a computer for me. I told him what I wanted the computer to do and he came up with the list, which I decided to finally act upon last Friday.

Nice! I hope you enjoy it and it flawlessly meets your needs for quite a while.

I tend to use my computers for quite a long time so I am sure it will. This one has worked flawlessly for a long time but I'm worried about something happening to it and not having something else ready to go. Now this one will be my backup computer. But sometimes I did find it more efficient to have two computers doing various work at the same time rather than having to make one computer do it all.

As soon as I started using this 32" monitor I told myself "You should have done this a long time ago."

I bought my first large monitor in 1995 for nearly $800 (paid for by my company).

It was a large, heavy, tube monitor which I think was 20" (?). It immediately made me more efficient with being able to line things up side-by-side on the screen, which did away for having to print things so as to be able to input into what was on the screen.

Without a doubt - NO!

Totally different personality types.

If he is, he has completely curbed his penchant for starting threads, let alone threads with subject titles that give away no hint of the content therein.

That plus several other aspects completely contra to his basic personality.

Peanut Butter & Jelly Burger

Post by Smith1776 » Tue Dec 13, 2022 2:21 pm

One of the best burgers I've ever had: a peanut butter & jelly burger with bacon and cheese.

It's an odd combination, but the duo of salty and sweet is actually damn amazing. This is a restaurant called Fox Burger in Edmonton, Alberta.

I would try that. I used to love peanut butter & bacon.
I can only see cheese though. Guess it’s in the center?

There's something similar at one of my favorite places where I live. it's just the Peanut Butter burger though.

Hamburger, bacon, cheese, PB, siracha sauce and red pepper aioli.

I couldn't get myself to try it until a couple of months ago...very tasty!

I now have my own unique "salad dressing".

Gulden's spicy mustard mixed with Teddie Boy crunchy peanut mixed with spicy guacamole.

Also, yesterday I made my first potato salad ever when I microwaved potatoes and then mashed them into my salad.

I have avoided most people's potato salads since I hate mayonnaise (due to it having in it the vinegar I hate).

Yeah it's hiding under there haha.

When I was in college I once (I think I was just bored) made a pb&j sandwich with some turkey cold cuts thrown in. Everyone thought I was a madman, but I'm telling you it was delicious.

The fact that an established restaurant would throw this on their menu leads me to believe that I am now vindicated. ;D

Srirachi and peanut butter - just add some noodles and bean sprouts and you’ve got Thai food.

Good one! Of course there is NO "Boy" in the name! Seemed so natural for me to use it, though.

By the way, I had my brother in Mass. bring me some. It was fantastic, just like you and Cortopassi said.
But, Giant has it for $2 a jar. Under $5 for no-stir organic (i.e. no hydrogenated oils). Good enough.

Aye. I'll have to recheck the weight but that's the regular price for the hydrogenated oils containing one.

Best Fried Chicken in the Universe

Post by Smith1776 » Mon Dec 19, 2022 10:47 am

Have any of you guys tried fried chicken from the chain called Jollibee?

Image

If you haven't, you absolutely must. I am telling you it the best fried chicken on the planet. The batter and subsequent crispiness is crazy. And I don't know how they do it, but they somehow get their flavouring all the way down to the bone. It's like a friggin' religious experience.

Not sure how much China news is on most people's radar these days. My wife's family in the Northeast of China are dealing with covid now. Her younger sister & her boyfriend are getting over it. Mom (age 76) who lives in the same little apartment and smokes & drinks is fine (could be the high-salt diet!). I have no idea what the "official" numbers are but the news we are getting from phone conversations is that a lot of people on the mainland are convalescing from covid. It seems that at least one factor pushing the CCP to open up was the Chinese people seeing World Cup games in Qatar that were filled to capacity with partying fans from all over the world.

Anyway, dualstow, I hope you stay healthy.

One of the factors you always see when you read news stories about super old people is they are fans of the booze. I feel like I see eggs and bacon come up a lot too. You can never be too careful, I'd say incorporate all 3 on a consistent basis.
You there, Ephialtes. May you live forever.
