The Curve Is Not Flat Enough
Hospitals are poised to face the kind of life-and-death decisions that industrialized countries typically encounter only in times of war and natural disaster.

remember , though detectable does not mean it can still get you sick easily ... these virus's become weaker and weaker each hour ... their half lives are relatively much shorter as well as their ability to infect .
you can still get it days later from an object but it does become harder to get through healthy skin and usually needs an entry way in to mucous membranes

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion
so we got good news and bad news last night .
my ex wife was released for home treatment .... my daughter inlaws mom is still being held but is better ... the bad news is my daughter inlaws father unknowingly had it too ... they found him dead in the house last night .
now the kids have to tell my daughter inlaws mom who has no idea and is still hospitalized ... i don't think they are going to tell my ex just yet either

DNA has its own language (code), and language requires intelligence. There is no known mechanism by which matter can give birth to information, let alone language. It is unreasonable to believe the world could have happened by chance.

My understanding is that it can't get through healthy skin at all. Mucous membranes are the entryway.mathjak107 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 30, 2020 4:53 amremember , though detectable does not mean it can still get you sick easily ... these virus's become weaker and weaker each hour ... their half lives are relatively much shorter as well as their ability to infect .

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion
no idea .. but the way it is striking here finding out later on we were wrong about how it gets transmitted does not do a bit of good after the fact. this thing is wicked ... we have 1 person dying every 17 minutes in ny from it ...other cities are first ramping up.
this thing is not to be taken lightly , it is no ordinary flu .... i believe this was a bio germ warfare experiment gone wrong .....it is to perfect at what it does ...
every day we read conflicting reports as far as what we thought or were doing .

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion
Sorry to hear it, mathjak.
I'm trying to figure out who your daughter-in-law's mom is since she is neither your wife nor your ex. Still working it out.

I think it's more common to get it from being breathed on or sneezed on than from contact.Libertarian666 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 30, 2020 7:32 am My understanding is that it can't get through healthy skin at all. Mucous membranes are the entryway.

Breitbart's reporting this morning that hydroxychloroquine has just been approved by the FDA for the treatment of coronavirus.

And they do mean cocktail (visualizing a nice vodka tonic) Seriously, Mathjak, I'll be hoping and praying for the best.mathjak107 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 30, 2020 12:31 pm a three drug cocktail they have been using that has been fairly effective ...
Re: Coronavirus General Discussion
The debate about masks seems so ridiculous. . . I frequently come into contact with rodent droppings in the barn and chicken coop. When cleaning, I ALWAYS wear a mask, which has been recommended since the dawn of time for protection against hantavirus. I see absolutely no reason why the same strategy would not apply here.
Re: Coronavirus General Discussion
For the past couple of weeks, one of my local radio stations that normally plays pop/rock music has been playing Christmas music -- yes, Christmas music -- for a couple of hours a day (around lunch and dinner time, I think). Presumably to help comfort people.
The first time I heard it two weeks ago, I was driving somewhere to pick up dinner and already felt like I had stepped into an alternate reality due to the empty streets and parking lots. When I switched the channel and landed on that Christmas music, it just cemented the weirdness.

LOL. So diverse.A top government official in France has admitted that draconian lockdown measures being imposed on the rest of the population shouldn’t be implemented in the country’s migrant-heavy ghettos in order to prevent riots. link
You there, Ephialtes. May you live forever.

Do you know what the three drugs are? That could be useful information.mathjak107 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 30, 2020 12:31 pm My ex was released yesterday ..she said if they catch it early on there is a three drug cocktail they have been using that has been fairly effective .....she couldn’t breath and talk when she went in on Friday .they gave it to her for a day ....she is home recuperating but feels so much better ......

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion
This article was written by William McGurn, but I swear it was composed by our own Benko.
Harvard’s China Virus
I agree. DiBlasio is the worst. He also encouraged New Yorkers to go out and see a movie at the beginning of this outbreak.
Harvard’s China Virus
https://www.wsj.com/articles/harvards-c ... 1585585597Some of the same people who fret so loudly about how we refer to Covid-19 are utterly indifferent to this other racial discrimination affecting Chinese-Americans.
Start with the mayor of New York, Bill de Blasio. After Mr. Trump tweeted out a reference to “the China virus” earlier this month, Mr. de Blasio clapped back. Asian-Americans, the mayor thundered, “don’t need you fueling more bigotry.”
If someone fuels bigotry by calling a virus a name accurately derived from its geographic origins, what about a mayor who works overtime to reduce the number of Asian-Americans in his city’s most competitive public high schools, not because they haven’t earned their entry but because they aren’t the right race.
I agree. DiBlasio is the worst. He also encouraged New Yorkers to go out and see a movie at the beginning of this outbreak.

Have you guys taken the self-isolation/quarantine opportunity to watch National Treasure yet this year?
Better get it done before June 17th (HB's birthday), or you get auto-banned from the forum.

“The worst thing you can do with insurance is try to time it,” Taleb, a distinguished professor of risk engineering at New York University, said in an interview Monday on Bloomberg Television. “If you don’t have tail insurance, you don’t have a portfolio. Your portfolio is going to blow up.”
