Agreed. But most likely, especially if you never run arbitrary applications written by who-knows-who, you're probably okay unless you're browsing the web. If you're using IE, then it's supported if your OS is supported. If your OS goes out of support, then it's possible that other browsers will continue to write for your OS for some time.
Personally, I never run an OS or browser that isn't supported. But then, upgrades are free for Linux.
