What's your favorite color?

What's your favorite color?
Just thought I'd add a little more energy to the forum.
Re: What's your favorite color?
Finally ... something I feel qualified to discuss. Green. But there are no tree-hugging implications.
I can't wait to see where this topic goes. I want to see how many posts it takes before politics or religion come up or Godwin's Law becomes relevant. I guess I should count my blessings. Over on bogleheads you can't discuss anything interesting.

For me.....Always, Always, Always Blue!
It started in elementary school when my favorite Crayola crayon color was "Midnight Blue".

Re: What's your favorite color?
I would have been in 1st or 2nd grade, depending upon when in 1958 it was actually introduced.
https://www.crayola.com/explore-colors/ ... -blue.aspx
I'm sure it became my favorite sometime in the near intervening years after it's initial introduction.

Wow. There is a LOT of irony floating around this topic right now.

Re: What's your favorite color?
There was a joke recently on some other forum, possibly b-heads: we've covered every topic except 'what's your favorite color?'
Whatever new color they come out with, that's my favorite.

White, but only after projection through a prism. Then I can pick and choose my favorite.
DNA has its own language (code), and language requires intelligence. There is no known mechanism by which matter can give birth to information, let alone language. It is unreasonable to believe the world could have happened by chance.

Wait, are we talking about additive or subtractive colors?Mountaineer wrote: ↑Wed Nov 13, 2019 10:35 am White, but only after projection through a prism. Then I can pick and choose my favorite.
Re: What's your favorite color?
Gold, naturally.
Re: What's your favorite color?
I'm pretty sure that Maddy was poking some fun at Vinny posting a pile of new threads about a thousand different things. (Vinny was recently complimented on "bringing a lot of energy to the forum", language Maddy echoed.) So she posts one that's totally ridiculous and over the top, and Vinny earnestly pops up with two consecutive dead-serious posts on her topic.

I never thought of gold. Didn’t think it was allowed. The weekend may get complicated.
Re: What's your favorite color?
Oh, Maddy, you are very naughty! I certainly didn't catch your humor, although I did wonder what was going on. Vinny, we love you, keep bringing the energy.Xan wrote: ↑Wed Nov 13, 2019 11:20 amI'm pretty sure that Maddy was poking some fun at Vinny posting a pile of new threads about a thousand different things. So Maddy is female? I thought Sophia (making an assumption on that name) was the only female actively here.Xan wrote: ↑Wed Nov 13, 2019 11:20 amI'm pretty sure that Maddy was poking some fun at Vinny posting a pile of new threads about a thousand different things. Maddy is female. And very colorful.
There’s also a Michelle. MichelleBelle?
I think Annie, who doesn’t post very often, is male. He used his dog’s name for the handle. So, except when the dog is posting, male. I don’t think either of them have posted in a while.

Vantablack, because it's the blackest black in the world.

Color is hard to determine a favorite. I think it depends on what other colors are surrounding it and what the color is attached to.
White is a great color, but I don't want my steering wheel to be all white.

Blue...no, green!
We need an innocuous topic that would be fun to toss around....recipes for Thanksgiving dinner and potlucks maybe? Or anyone starting an indoor garden for the winter to grow edible greens?

Good Python reference, WiseOne!
I have some edible greens, but I don’t think I should post about them online.
I do have a chestnut recipe that has worked well for me this autumn. Fail-safe:

I pickled things I grew outside the past couple years, plus some things I'm keeping in the root cellar (garlic, pumpkins, squash). I'm going to try dehydrating veggies next year. I am going to try some season extenders to get an early start on things in the spring. Very exciting times

I just realized I forgot to mention the rhubarb wine I have bubbling away on the dinner table.

Re: What's your favorite color?
The one year I had a bumper crop of tomatoes I dehydrated a ton of them. But since then many seem to get killed by the blight that seems to be in our area. Bell peppers, though, have done quite well both of the last two years. They've turned into my "cash" crop.Kriegsspiel wrote: ↑Thu Nov 14, 2019 6:50 pmI pickled things I grew outside the past couple years, plus some things I'm keeping in the root cellar (garlic, pumpkins, squash). Undecided between gray or grey
Re: What's your favorite color?
I still haven't conquered indoor gardening, but this fall I did some major rethinking of the outdoor garden. One of the things I experimented with was a material called "plastic mulch" (a/k/a "black mulch"). It's a very thin, stretchy plastic that you stretch over a raised row, backfilling over the edges as you go. Drip tape goes underneath. You then cut small "x"s and plant right through the material.
Being black, it really holds the heat in, so you get a real jump start in the spring. It's also great at keeping vegetables off the ground and, conversely, keeping mud from splashing up onto things. Pests like whiteflies and aphids are reduced because their eggs normally overwinter in the soil. From what I understand, they also make a shiny silver plastic mulch which is made specifically to deter aphids.
I created this particular row, along with two others, for the garlic I planted this fall.
Well, so much for my attempt to post pictures.

Maddy, below the place to write the body of your post, there's an Attachments tab. That'll let you upload pictures directly to this site and your post without having to put them somewhere else and link to them. Does that work for you?
