Proposal To Change This Section To "Other Lazy Portfolios"

Post by Reub »

Being that this section is lacking in posts and interest, I propose changing this section to highlight the myriad of other lazy portfolios. There are a lot of them out there and their discussion may draw more interest than simply discussing PRPFX and PERM ad nauseum. What do you think?

That seems like a great idea to me.

+1.

It does make sense. Both PRPFX and classic PP are mentioned on various sites dedicated to lazy portfolios. Having them compared to other portfolios helps to better understand the pros and cons of PP.

Not being a financial expert,  I would certainly enjoy learning about other lazy portfolio ideas.  They could be contrasted with PRPFX and might actually augment the PP strategy.

I also think that examining some of the many interesting lazy strategies could be a draw for new readers as they might come upon this site when googling these other portfolios.

Does it seem that these forums have been running on autopilot recently without real direction or leadership? I've noticed how many of the great posters are gone.

I don't know how others feel, but I think we have pretty much exhausted the discussion on the PP.  I have used it for many years and plan to continue (along with a VP).

I don't seem to get much out of discussions on tinkering with the PP or the discussions that just seem to reflect each individual's biases with regard to the portfolio's components or their views of future market developments.  I don't mean to denigrate the discussions, I just don't have anything of substance to add.

Which is why these forums need to change, expand,  and reconstitute. We should have a medical/health/science section as well as an alternative investments section that would include lazy portfolios.  If we stop expanding we will cease to exist.

I also was thinking about personal finance/non-investing section, but there is one on Bogleheads already.

Of course they have! This forum is full of blasphemy with all the talk about forbidden assets - gold and LTTs.  :o

Please substitute the word growing for the word expanding.  I hope that it sounds more palatable to you libertarians now. :)

Up to you guys..  I'm fine with either a separate forum or renaming this to "other lazy portfolios."  The bottom line is, I'm far more interested in discussing other lazy asset allocations rather than the few PP funds out there.

It is fine by me.  I do believe there is a manager in Australia that mangers money for others with a PP approach as well as at least one hedge fund that has a similar but modified approach, in a similar manner how PRPFX is not really 25x4 any more either.  Another option would be to add a second subforum here or in the Variable portions.  Any portfolio not PP would technically be a VP wether passive or active

I think we heard enough aye's to go ahead with the change. Who has the power to make our dreams true?

The moderators talked about this a little bit a couple of months ago, but decided against the idea.  We want to keep the board section names focused on the Permanent Portfolio.

But, by all means, start new lazy portfolio threads -- they fit fine in both the "Other Discussions" and the "Variable Portfolio Discussion" sections.
