Hardly. I still have 50% or so in gold.

I just wish we could pay each other in gold & silver. It's no fun converting into that dirty cotton and linen first.

Gold for bricks is a good trade. Congrats on paying off the mortgage!

Hah! You overestimate your super powers in the universe. I just added some UGLD to my VP PP which defeats your selling power and guarantees it will go down.Libertarian666 wrote:I just sold a bunch and will be paying off my mortgage, so it is almost certain to skyrocket!

After holding through a 30 year slump, and buying more in 1999, not very likely!buddtholomew wrote:Good.

It just occurred to me that I could actually pay off my mortgage by selling gold. Unlike you I would probably have to sell ALL of it, but at least I'm at a point that I could do it if I had to.Libertarian666 wrote:I just sold a bunch and will be paying off my mortgage, so it is almost certain to skyrocket!
(Think I'll hang on to the mortgage for now but it was a nice thought).

I bought my house in 1998, so waiting this long to pay off my mortgage has definitely reduced the amount of gold needed to pay it off!farjean2 wrote:It just occurred to me that I could actually pay off my mortgage by selling gold. Re: Everyone who has been waiting can now buy gold!
I wonder, how well does gold have to do to make past gold purchases worthwhile?
For those who bought in to the S&P at 2000 (the year, not the value), things looked pretty dismal around 2010, with a net gain of zero. But things have really picked up since then.
I first got into gold in 2010 but bought more in the early Tens at a higher price. It would be a big relief if I could just break even, but it would be silly to just sell everything off at breakeven. It would be like selling my S&P shares in 2010.
Libertarian666 obviously bought in earlier. I wonder, for most of us to rebalance at 35%, does gold have to triple? Quadruple?
