Fascinating stuff. Thanks for posting this video.

My only question is...

How safe is the paper gold in my 401k that is split between SGOL and GTU? As a U.S. citizen, is there some way the govt can manipulate my holdings? I'm sure that some may say to own physical gold, but physical isn't feasible for me right now and I'd be paranoid having it in my possession anyway.

If physical gold is not feasible for you, then paper gold is a reasonable alternative until your situation changes.

I own some IAU for easy rebalancing.  My PP consists of about 25% paper gold, and 75% physical gold, and I’m not losing any sleep over it.

So your PP is 100% gold? Now I don't feel so extreme!  ;D

Sorry, what I meant was my 25% gold portion is broken down to majority physical, with some IAU.  I also have 25% in each of these: TLT/SHY/(VTI&VEU).

Why isn't physical feasible?  You can easily store it in a depository... or even in a safe deposit box for that matter.
Precious Metals, like Gold, Silver, Platinum and Palladium have always had their place in a well balanced retirement portfolio.

What I don't understand about his presentation is: Why did the price of gold crash in the 80's after it peaked?
"Now remember, when things look bad and it looks like you're not gonna make it, then you gotta get mean. I mean plumb, mad-dog mean. 'Cause if you lose your head and you give up then you neither live nor win. That's just the way it is. "
