If there is going to be a beat-down it is a lot cheaper to do it when there is no trading to speak of, like on a semi-holiday like today.

I doubt this will last, so good on Buddtholomew for buying some down here.

Of course no one should listen to my predictions...

Do you guys actively trade on gold? Maybe as part of your variable portfolio?

I cancelled my limit orders at 1200. Maybe we go lower. Let's see.

I could never trade this stuff. I'd have an ulcer. I'm just trying to buy and keep a 10% allocation.

I am way past trying to trade anything.

I will follow either the bands to rebalance or once a year.

I've got the buying part down. Now if it would just go high enough for me to do some selling! O0

This might be the biggest jump in the price of gold I've seen in one day since I started the PP. (+1.67%)

Now my overall gold holdings are only down 7.39% since the time of purchase (starting in 2011 - a very bad year with another to follow).

Thanks, NK Kim dynasty.

Gold may move back down with stocks moving back up, but the pp really does provide a smooth ride for the most part. As advertised.

If it truly is because of North Korea, we can expect it to drop back shortly.

However, gold is starting to feel a bit different lately. A little stronger. I need to see it hold 1300 for a few weeks before I get excited.

But it certainly has helped smooth the pp out for sure. New 2017 high for me today.

We shall see, but essentially it has gone exactly nowhere since Feb 2016 bouncing mainly between 1200 and 1300.

Last month, I thought I had plenty of time to set up a new checking account from which to buy gold. Oops. :) No complaints here, though.

Gold hanging in there, treasuries are a bust with equities declining.

Long bonds have been doing fine, haven't they?

Yeah my comment was before an auction this morning where treasuries were a little subdued even with almost a 1% decline in the S&P. Rallied late in the day just fine.

It is all so predictable. Latest threat from N. Korea is "over." Run the slam gold algorithm...

Such crap...same for treasuries.
Makes me sick to ever have found this portfolio.

That was raw emotion this morning after 14 hours of migrating our enterprise reporting environment to AWS.
