Stocks down, gold and long treasurys up today - I assumed it was traders' flight to safety going into the weekend due to recent geopolitical events.

I'll tell you EXACTLY fucking why.

Because literally the day before I sold off a huge chunk of gold (long story).

Yeah. Fuck.

Truth is, of course, no one knows.

Just like at the end of the day when we are told why the overall stock market was up or down.

Sorry Smith. I did just buy some more earlier in the week going to 33/33/33 stocks/intermediate bonds/gold in retirement accounts so the gold portion worked out nicely.

I hate gold but there is nothing else like it.

Do you have any gold now Vinny?

I still only have the 3 ounce coins plus a fraction of an ounce that I bought in 1995.

I have my $1300 gold, 10% of portfolio, but OMFG too many miners bought in 2020. I should have stuck with 100% bullion. Damn miners. But I'm holding. I'll sell them in a few years if they don't pop.

Did gold hit an ATH on a monthly basis? If so, that's important.

PS - I think it came close but didn't hit it.

Monthly ATH in gold was $2009, it's now $2013... Let's see if it does its usual faceplant by the close on November 30 !

Really moving now, nice. ATH closes for month, Q4, and year would be really a good sign.

Dollar index down, Gold up. Fed's Waller says he thinks rate policy is in a good place - no hikes or cuts on the horizon (unless data changes). Without a threat of more hikes from the Fed, gold looks likely to move up from here. $.02

Why would people buy gold with cash at 129.18%? (asks the person in Argentina)

Why would people buy gold with cash at 20%? (asks the person in Argentina)
Correct me if I'm wrong but I was of the understanding that at the moment the risk-free rate in Argentina was 133% (which isn't nearly as high as it sounds since their inflation rate is around 131 or 132% Y-O-Y if I remember right), not 20%.....do Argentinian banks only pay 20% on customer deposits despite the central bank rate and Argentinian treasury bill rate being over 130%? That may be the case; certainly banks in America like to tout paying 3 or 4% on CDs as if that was a competitive rate.....while one can go to Fido or Schwab and buy T-Bills paying 5.4 or 5.5%.

Looks like a short squeeze on the open in Asian trading. It's settling back down a bit now.

cherry picking dates can make any point one wants .

last time i looked you would be hard pressed to find time frames where equites and bonds beat equities and gold the last two decades
