I don't imagine platinum as any kind of substitute for gold buuuuuuuuuuuuut...........at about 60% of the cost........how much risk vs reward is there in platinum right now?
I bought about 10 oz last year in coins and bars, all between $800 - $900. It's been good to me.
I bought a 2021 platinum eagle last week for $1300. A gold eagle was $2100. I've gotta think at some point in the future the platinum eagle will be worth more than the gold one again, or at least the relative value won't get much worse.
Thoughts?
Platinum anyone?

Re: Platinum anyone?
For gold it might be I have some vague idea on where it might be headed, however silver, platinum and palladium are quite unpredictable in my eyes. I have spent some time in the past to read about their industrial usages, etc. and still cannot share anything that really caught my attention.
For me those metals are not too much different than copper or aluminium i.e. just metal commodities.
I have used in the past trend following strategies on commodities, and it appear working fine (but a bit of too much hassle for retailers like me). Actually, I am firm believer that trend following works best when applied on wide basket of commodities than anything else - especially if compared to trend following when applied to stocks (and not to be mistaken with momentum play on stocks, which is completely different animal, indeed...).

Have a look over on BelangP's channel for an in depth analysis. You will have to sift through his videos, but here are two I remember.

Thanks Hal. I have watched and love everything BelangP. I probably owe him for convincing me to go 100% physical. He's probably second only to Harry Browne in my investment education.Hal wrote: ↑Sun Jun 06, 2021 6:13 pm Have a look over on BelangP's channel for an in depth analysis. Anyone who hasn't watched his videos is highly encouraged to do so. The vids are a great length and packed with nutrition.
Re: Platinum anyone?
Just got my 2021 platinum eagle today. The density of platinum is remarkable. It's sitting safely next to my 2020.
My 2021 platinum kangaroo has shipped and should be here Monday.
