Renaissance Fund open to investors is laying an egg

Post by ppnewbie » Mon Dec 28, 2020 5:34 pm

A friend of mine has money in one of the public funds. He is down something like 12 percent this year. It's pretty funny. He said they were very defensive on the call and said this is the same model they use for their employee only closed fund but longer durations. They said for some reason the models are not working.

Thank you PP / GB for keeping me out of the smart money guy / girl trap!

I’ve been down that road and learned my lesson. Hot funds, hot newsletter authors, story stocks, etc. I’ll thank Bogle first, then Bernstein and Browne.

The best thing was when I talked to this person (a former Wall Street fat cat), he was crying and whining that nobody could have predicted so much QE. I kind of subtlety asked how long interest rates have been going down and how many rounds of QE have happened since 2008 but backed off because these guys can never make a mistake (or at least one that they are not bailed out of).
