The right is eating itself
Re: The right is eating itself
The Republicans have two things in their favor. As the party out of power its easier to coalesce against a common enemy instead of trying to get anything. The other part is that they already don't believe in government so what do they care how badly they manage?doodle wrote: ↑Sun Aug 21, 2022 9:47 amFrom my perspective it seems like the right side of the aisle is having a bigger identity crises of late than the left

Plus Trump was pretty effective at getting all the anti-Trumpers out of his party so what sort of identity crisis is there to be had?

Fair observation, but there’s nothing “right” about Trump. He’s a populist and within the R party the battle is between actual conservatism and populism.
Theses things have a way of balancing themselves out though. National parties want to win and they will self correct to the point where they can win again. It’s pretty rare for one party to go past three presidential cycles before they win again.
