This is a contrarian forum. Abe Lincoln sucked. The Swiss were not that bad in WW2, a war that was really won by the Russians and not the U.S. or UK; We should make friends with Russia, etc. I wonder what you all think of Ray Dalio’s take on China. My opinion: 👎. That is, I agree with the author.

Ray Dalio’s China Equivalence
Mr. Dalio acknowledged that China has “an autocratic system” (an improvement from Michael Bloomberg’s 2020 claim that Chinese President Xi Jinping is “not a dictator”). But pressed on China’s policy of “disappearing people,” he added, “that is their approach, we have our approach.” Tell that to publisher Jimmy Lai, who is locked in jail merely for asking China to live up to the promises it made about Hong Kong autonomy.

I still think he has value with regard to investing, and I didn’t agree with all of Harry’s opinions on politics either. Just curious.

He sounds compromised to me. I would not trust much of what he says since he has no moral compass.

Let me test the waters on his fresh one Principles for Dealing with the Changing World Order: Why Nations Succeed and Fail - anyone already ?
I'd give it a try, only fear is (as usual) that I'd need B2 or C1 to enjoy the reading. Really hate when I have to read with the dictionary opened in search mode..

What’re B2 and C1? English proficiency levels? Or some business degree?
EDIT: Ah, I see. English - https://tracktest.eu/english-levels-cefr/

At times Dalio can sound like he's talking to the little guy but over time I've come to understand that anything he says in these interviews is directed toward Bridgewater investors. And, from everything I have heard, Bridgewater is heavily invested in China. Dalio knows the CCP would not hesitate to "affect" the value of those investments if he were to be obviously critical of China.
