Max Boot is not a republican, no matter what he might say. He’s a center neocon.

Duly noted.

Any response to the thoughts he expresses. His words?

I'm going to apply the Vinny standard. Max Boot is discredited in my mind so I'm not going to evaluate what he might say. :)

Good one. I was wondering if you'd reply that way.

Except the "Vinny standard" is directed towards certain wacky conspiracy theories that are not infrequently brought here. Plus, brought from sources that are either fringe or obviously biased or both.

Still waiting for anyone to tell me how large that antifa mob was in New York City on Sunday.

Dunno

I was going to create a thread, Where Tech Meets Politics, to make up for that post of Cortopassi’s that was deleted, but it looks like this thread serves that purpose just fine.

I thought the principle just established was that hacked material was considered off-limits for journalistic investigation. The Biden laptop was much less "hacked" than all this was.

Even Salon sees the hypocrisy of blaming Parler for the capitol incident: https://www.salon.com/2021/01/16/despit ... hdogs-say/

"If you took Parler out of the equation, you would still almost certainly have what happened at the Capitol," he told Salon. "If you took Facebook out of the equation before that, you would not. To me, when Apple and Google sent their letter to Parler, I was a little bit confused why Facebook didn't get one."

"Apple and Google were being extraordinarily myopic and, frankly, hypocritical in singling out Parler," he said. "Not because I want to defend Parler, but the math is the math. Facebook was worse."

"Google's role in all of this is … significant," Carusone said. Even more than Facebook, he said, "YouTube had the worst election disinformation policy."

Yes! It was only very recently that Zuckerberg caved and started shutting down Holocaust denial. I understand that these platforms are going to be criticized whether they go all free speech or try to moderate, but there are clear double standards here with with regard to Parler. I hope someone like Peter Thiel swoops in and saves Parler.

Neither was “hacked”

Parler has publicly available info scraped by a bunch of script kiddies. There was no hacking. They lied about taking over admin accounts.

Hunter’s laptop wasn’t hacked, the physical device was given, unlocked, to a computer repairman.

In reality, no hack occurred to either but for political reasons, since the left doesn’t want to acknowledge hunter’s laptop, they claim it was hacked and thus breaches policies of social media or main stream media.

From a level of effort perspective, yes, the Parler scrape took a ton more effort and the people doing the scraping did not have permission of the site owner, although arguably one doesn’t need permission to scrape. Then again Aaron Schwartz committed suicide due to federal prosecution over site scraping under the terms of the CFAA which are so broad, they should read:

‘If the government doesn’t like something you did on a computer, or in the same room as a computer, or you committed a non-computer based crime but used a computer within the last decade, you are guilty of a federal felony under the CFAA”

army of citizens to monitor domestic terrorists,
It's LITERALLY out of the NAZI/Communist playbook, done over and over and over.

freedom loving patriotic Americans need to get as many states to secede as possible. Then all the "domestic terrorists" can move there and have normal lives and not bother the communists anymore.

Everyone will be happier.

there is frightful talk of Truth and Reconciliation Commissions, blacklists, purges, cleansing, re-education camps, deradicalization, and deprogramming — all from the mouths of Democrats. That they are so emboldened to actually articulate these noxious ideas out loud — the very tactics employed by the worst despots and most notorious political movements in history — should chill everyone's blood.
