Altria/PM

Post by dualstow »

Feeling the pain today. It's my biggest indie holding and it's down like 15% intraday. Ouch.
(PM was spun off of MO).

O0 I'll get over it, boo-hoo, but thank you.
It's been good to me overall. Just...not as good as it was a few months ago. Like, less than half as profitable as it was at the peak.

That would suck for Berkshire.

Pm has been doing awful for years . Smoking is on the decline . a simple index fund would have blown it away without having to take on not only market volatiliity but individual company risk too

old thread.@Budd: what you’re thinking about gold today? That’s what’s happening to my tobacco shares. Sometimes they get killed during a broad market rally.

wow, every time I return to this thread to say Altria & PM are tanking, I see that the most recent post says the same, with not a lot of good news in between.

They managed to invest in Juul right before people died from vaping strange substances.

Somehow this stock is still up 100% for me (100% for PM, 160% for Altria) but it’s been a looong time since it hit a high.
