At least they don’t own Gold...much smarter.
I wonder whether Gold or LTT’s will win the worst performing PP investment of the year..
Yay PP

Re: Worst investing year ever...
You can’t but the PP still sucks ass...what a piece of junk...if you’re looking at my post history why not find the post that says the PP will not work when push comes to shove. Your precious Gold and LTT’s are still down YTD and up a shitty 1% and .45 respectively today with DOW down 600. Remember stocks are up 300% since 2008/9. PP will never make up the difference, EVER.finster869 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 24, 2018 11:50 amThis post didn't age well......just goes to show you why you can't time the market.buddtholomew wrote: ↑Tue Nov 27, 2018 10:14 amAt least they don’t own Gold...much smarter.

Re: Worst investing year ever...
LOL, Budd is back. Fact time...
SPY down 8.89% this year and down 17.12 since October first...
Meanwhile PP down 3.65 for the year and 1.65 since 10/1
And just to make the point crystal clear...since 10/1 GLD up 5.54 and TLT up 4.13%
After today, the stats get even better for the PP.
Oh my gosh...the PP is working as advertised. If the stock bear market continues my guess is board activity will pick up with new folks finding their way here.
Of note...I did a rebalance and bought more TQQQ in my VP PP.
Now, lest no one be surprised...whenever stocks resume a bull market, the PP is going to under perform.
And Budd, this tip just for you. When you think the bear bottom is in, rotate out of gold. Not advised until then.

Re: Worst investing year ever...
I’m sticking to the plan and moving from 25/25/15/35 to 35/15/15/35 and am currently 30/17.5/17.5/35.
I TLH Gold and offset gains in SCV (IJS)
I then bought SC Blend (IJR) to move closer to 35%
Definitely have felt the pain in stocks as IJR is down 6% since that purchase.
Basically, sold some gold and put in stocks and LTT’s.
Not that concerned that I missed some gold gains as some went to LTT’s to mitigate.
5% went to stocks with the intent of including more equities going forward. It’s a crapshoot but I feel better having slightly less gold, more stocks and LTT’s.
Still wishing we either see a strong stock recovery or Gold/LTT’s catch a bid. Would like to rebalance from either of these into stocks.

Re: Worst investing year ever...
Today's update...SPY now -19.39, GLD 6.7, TLT 4.65 since 10/1.
For the year SPY down 11.22, PP down 3.85.
However, I will jump to Budd's defense on one thing. The PP has been slaughtered by the SPY since 2009. However, going back to 2017 it's getting pretty close to a tie now with the PP having 1/4th the DD and of course 2018 is a win for the PP as well. And to Budd is right on how badly gold has been stinking it up for several years now.

Re: Worst investing year ever...
I think we all adopted the PP because it seemed like the rational thing to do at the time.
Yes, gold may not live up to expectations and may become completely worthless, but how were we to know that?
If we are like Mountaineer we can say not to worry because God is in control but the rest of us can say the same thing believing nobody is in control, including us. We just do the best we can.
So let's all celebrate the "Worst investing year ever" and have a good time on Christmas Eve. I'm getting ready to go to a party and do the same thing myself. The last time I was this drunk on Christmas Eve I made a complete fool of myself.
Peace on earth. Good will towards men.

Re: Worst investing year ever...
Glad you are still around! I will ask again: What is your final allocation if you catch a good bid on Gold/LTT's. It just for now! You can change it. Can you help us all with the Budd allocation. I'm 81 so I pass. But if your have 20 years to invest let me have it. Last time to ask.buddtholomew wrote: ↑Mon Dec 24, 2018 4:23 pmI’m sticking to the plan and moving from 25/25/15/35 to 35/15/15/35 and am currently 30/17.5/17.5/35.
