Taxable Account: PRPFX vs. 4 Equal Assets

Post by hrux »

Hi,
I apologize in advance if this has already been addressed however could not locate any info.  Has anyone completed any analysis on whether or not it is better to use PRPFX or equal parts VTI, IAU, TLT, SHY when investing in a taxable account?
Thanks.  Heather

Debatable, I suppose, if looking exclusively at taxes and there is no tax-deferred option for any of the assets. However, if some of the 4 could be held in a tax-deferred account (e.g. TLT, SHY) and if some of the gold used for rebalancing were held in GTU or PHYS, then things could tip toward holding the four individually.

Good question.

I keep my DIY version in my IRA and PRPFX for the rest.
