Re: Why I think 2021 will be a blockbuster year for stocks

I liked it better when so many were pessimistic.....bull markets don’t end with the pessimism we had . Now by just about any measure things are overly bullish again .that scares me But we’ve been saying that since at least 2013. And at least one boglehead said the covid crash was “obvious” to him. ...

the Republican attorney general of Ohio, Dave Yost, who argued that what Texas was seeking "would undermine a foundational premise of our federalist system: the idea that the States are sovereigns, free to govern themselves."
Nice.

Re: Why I think 2021 will be a blockbuster year for stocks

Don't bull markets die when earnings fail to prop up P/E's? Nope. Earnings have nothing to do with it. It's all about cash flows. As long as cash flows (which are primarily driven by speculation) are willing to keep flowing in, the bull will continue. P/E's don't matter in a bull market, they matte...

Re: Why I think 2021 will be a blockbuster year for stocks

More emerging evidence to back up my 2021 expectations... AirBnB and DoorDash IPO's. If both of these IPO's can double in price day 1, it shows there is still pent up appetite for speculation. Bull markets die ONLY when the appetite for speculation runs out. There's still way too much speculative ap...

Re: Shower thoughts: country music created the modern conservative party

I also think the political left needs a PR makeover...not since the 60s or 70s has there really been a strong cultural movement that embodied the ethos of the progressive left. One could look at springsteen as perhaps a later attempt but most of the progressive music since the 80s has really not be...

It's cyclical. Life influences art, and then art influences life. Music has always been a very important piece of culture. Country music happens to be the soundtrack of modern conservative culture.

Re: Should Donald Trump Be Charged With Sedition?

Yes, this is correct. One of the most intelligent people I know hates Trump with a passion because he has "destroyed the Republican party", and he is a long-time Republican who was I believe involved in Bush v. Gore. I haven't asked him exactly why he thinks that because I don't want to h...

Re: what is your assesment of the level of government coruption in light of the election. poll

If you look across the entire globe and rank countries by level of corruption, you'd really be hard pressed to find many countries less corrupt than ours is. So why would "the end" come for our country before all these others? Also, I would agree there is corruption, but I would totally di...

I think one of the smarter aspects of the filing is that Texas did not argue that there was election fraud, but only that the swing states violated their own constitutions.
You have to ask yourself, is not claiming fraud a strategy or is it because there is no evidence of fraud?

Wow, I selected the last choice but didn't expect that it would be the majority opinion. I guess there is more agreement here than you would know from all the discussions. equally surprised by the results, based on forum posts i would have guessed at least some in every category except the first.. ...

Re: Should Donald Trump Be Charged With Sedition?

Still makes absolutely no sense to me why Trump would be challenging election results in counties he already won. Or even why he would be looking at them. He has a specific purpose right now with limited time and resources so why would he do that and how is that shady behavior? Well election are wo...

I will also say that if a Democrat were doing the exact same things Trump is doing right now... Republicans would be losing their shit. They would be saying he was destroying democracy, that this was going to lead to authoritarianism, and they would be ready for revolution. They only reason they car...

Re: Texas sues to have the state legislatures appoint the electors

Basically, there's a BIG difference between demanding investigation, and demanding a specific result. I'm all for investigation, and I'll accept the result whether it goes the way I believe it will or not. It's hypocritical and makes no sense to demand investigation, but only accept the investigatio...

Two paragraphs pmward? Outstanding! It made it possible for me to read your post. Thanks. Investigation is important but that principle goes both ways. Accepting every wild accusation and far-fetched concoction of a narcisstic madman and his whackjob legal team as basis of truth is lunacy (and I'm literally paraphrasing Republicans like Christie and Limbaugh when I say that). Yeah, what is really impressive on that graph is that Obama had over double the support of the other side that Trump did. THAT level of dislike is impressive right there. This is really the root of the issue with Trump, and really with populist politicians in general. Populists tend to draw a very l...

Getting Republicans or conservatives to take part in a seditious scheme to overturn a legit election seems like a crazy conspiracy theory to me given the nature of such people. Far more likely to get lefties to engage in fraud, organized or not. Might I bring Nixon to your attention... the only pol...
