Re: Familiar?
Grant was magnanimous at a personal level, but he had no love for the ideals of slavery or the people who favored them by the time the civil war ended. The war changed him and Lincoln, it made them LESS tolerant of slavery. The latter part of the quote was my intent for posting. Bad is bad and the ...

Re: Privacy terms - Google Drive vs OneDrive
(2) Signed up for protonmail, paid version. I still use gmail, but it's nice to have something alongside it. Gmail-to-gmail is now encrypted, I believe. Email as it goes from one server to another is typically encrypted, but it's of limited help. If both servers support encryption, it'll work, but ...

Re: Privacy terms - Google Drive vs OneDrive
Is there a particular program you guys recommend to encrypt cloud based files? I use Diskcyptor to encrypt local drives, but not sure if/how that would work for individual files that would be uploaded to the cloud. GPG is probably the default tool for encryption that I would use. I don't have any e...

Tech is right: if you want to keep it private, you have to encrypt it yourself. Are you saying that portals provided by investment firms and CPA firms and the like may not be secure? Vinny That's certainly possible, yes. But in general, anybody who has encrypted something is also able to decrypt it...

Re: What's your favorite color?
Maddy, I've tweaked the settings on the forum (primarily increasing the upload file size limit from 2MB to 10MB). Can you try editing your post and attaching again? Still getting the same "invalid file" message. BTW, the file size was 6 MB. I'll dig into it further. Still might be a file ...

Maddy, below the place to write the body of your post, there's an Attachments tab. That'll let you upload pictures directly to this site and your post without having to put them somewhere else and link to them. Does that work for you?

Re: US Treasury to issue a 50-year bond
Not quite an announcement, so it isn't a done deal, but it sure seems close. Really I don't know why they wouldn't. If this were to happen, what would be the PP ramifications? Should we phase into those bonds? I'm thinking the answer would be yes, because we want bonds with high volatility, and as r...

Re: Figuring Out Religion
Whether God is watching and cares about that or not is a completely irrelevant consideration. That reminds me of something I read about Zen Buddhism. It said that Zen doesn't actively deny God. It just advocates behaving the same way whether God is there or not. That is very good advice. Concepts l...

These seem to be the topics which have had the longest lives. Most are still active. It's possible for there to have been big gaps inside of them, though; I didn't check for that. "YouTube Junkie"; started 2012-02-19, 621 posts, last post 2019-11-11 "Boglehead topic best watch for $50...

Anyone heard from Annie B?

Thanks.

I use and recommend Free File Fillable Forms. It's an electronic version of the paper forms. Does all the math for you. It's the official way to file online for free.

I checked what Harry Browne had to say on the subject: Harry was certainly wise in many ways, but he also held some extreme positions that he later walked back. I hope the above is in that category. I don't know how one can say that with a straight face. I don't know from where that quote was taken...

Slightly off-topic, but I highly recommend Michael Lewis's "The Undoing Project". In addition to being fascinating like most/all of his work, reading this I discovered I had no idea what psychologists actually did, or how interesting it is.
