Additionally, the S.African mint is putting out a 50th anniversary krugerrand, but I doubt the privy mark is worth the premium. Time will tell.

Re: Renewable electricity sources are now a no-brainer

The only bad news I've read is that massive arrays can fry birds.
I'd love to have some cells on my roof, though. My brother already does.

Re: Complete list of bullion?

Checked prices again this morning. While there's still a big difference in the price of a krug between the two vendors, a new ('17) Austrian phil is just US$1 more than a random year one at texmetals, so it does depend on which country's bullion you buy. I'm relieved. Want to buy from both stores. T...

Re: Complete list of bullion?

Do the new ones look any different from the old ones? I don't know anyone who collects krugs by date. :) I know it's a rhetorical question, but I'll answer anyway. I used to buy random year coins, several at a time. Started with krugerrands, which were quite filthy, but I didn't know any better. Wh...

Re: Complete list of bullion?

Excellent. Apmex was my most recent dealer because I liked ordering online instead of via telephone, AND paying by check. Texmetals has both of those things covered and, unless it was just a matter of timing my mouse clicks, better prices than Apmex. I see that the orders are covered by credit card,...

Re: Gold Coin Counterfeiting today

@ocho: how did you test the maple without scratching it? One of the apps I found calls for spinning the coins on a hard surface. This along with Leavy's description has led me to expect nothing less than the elven singing that Tolkien says created the universe. light refracting lines: the new Britan...

Re: Complete list of bullion?

There's definitely a discrepancy among dealer prices. At the moment, a krug was selling for 1243 at texmetals, 1242 at ajpm and 1260 at apmex. This last one was for a 2017 coin, so I switched to random year. Still well over $1253 at apmex. Too bad, because it's the most convenient one I've ever used...

Re: Is America Safe, Or Not?

For the record, I did not at any time state that Jews are unsafe in small towns in the U.S. Those were words that were put in my mouth and then called "ridiculous" which is fine, because it is was never my statement anyway. Clearly, I made a mistake by being too concise and also by wrappin...

Re: Complete list of bullion?

Maybe it's just the price above spot that would change -- I currently pay a premium of about $40-50 above spot -- and not the sell/buy spread. If you go to apmex and type anything in the search box to get it going, then select: gold coin (no rounds) 1oz weight 2017 and at the bottom IRA approved you...

Re: Where should new contributions go?

I've always believed prosperity is in the cards for 2016-2020 but weird things can happen that derail momentum. It's why I invest 4x25 regardless of my beliefs (with some VP on the side because its fun). I feel the same. More than ten years ago, I had a strong urge to dump things like oil and tobac...

Re: Complete list of bullion?

I guess that buy/sell differential would change if the price doubled though, right? Seems like a good starting point, maybe as a %. I plan to stick to the same ones as you, Farmer D , minus Buffalos and Maples. I *was* considering ten Britannias, but maybe I should just put those in the one-off cate...

Complete list of bullion?

Has anyone got a comprehensive list of bullion coins & countries?
Besides the few obvious ones that keep coming up, I look at things like gold Britannias. Clearly bullion on the site I'm looking at. Not a proof coin.

However, I don't have an official list. Have we ever made one?

Re: Gold Coin Counterfeiting today

.. I think I'm done buying physical gold, and this thread has helped with that decision - I just don't need to be worrying about counterfeiting, let alone storage & insurance issues. The rest of my taxable gold purchases will be Perth Mint certificates. ... Physical gold is fun, though. I don't...

I bought my first maple this winter, a 2017 with that microengraving. Pretty cool. I'd buy more if they weren't so soft (pure). Price of being pretty.

Re: Is America Safe, Or Not?

Yeah, I mean a ban should probably be the result of repeated problems, and this does look like a one-time misunderstanding. Maybe curlew could just put me on ignore and I'll try to recuse myself of this kind if of topic.

Re: Is America Safe, Or Not?

I read curlew's replies. the suggestion I heard recently by someone in the National Parks Service that black people don't visit the national parks because the trees make them think of lynching. It was made by a black person so I guess it was okay. I guess so, too. That's just one of the rules. I don...

Interesting. I haven't seen the x-ray tests, but that would get right to the point, wouldn't it? I'll have to see if I can find one locally.
I think I'll try the iphone app, and if necessary, the Fisch ringer (89 bucks) in the future.

Back from a trip. Just a quick reply, before this all gets too bizarre. Sometimes the line between humor and offense is closeness between listener and speaker. And sometimes distance is created by the written word on a forum. I've got friends who can do ethnic humor all day long and I'll give it rig...

And just so you know, curlew (now that I'm on a full keyboard), there's rarely a good reason to casually invoke death camps. Certainly not because of some imagined slight against small towns when the original speaker grew up in one, thank you very much. That's the kind of ignorance that proves my po...

people in small towns or the countryside even know what a Jew looks like. I can't tell myself. As long as you don't advertise it I would think it pretty easy to avoid the concentration camps. Gee thanks. i shrugged: like I said, I did grow up in a small town. It was uneventful for the most part.

Besides work, I guess spending cash comes from interest & dividends. Whatis not spent is reinvested.
