Re: The GOLD scream room
I have to slap myself but I actually took a look at GLD and SLV call options today. I have not looked at options for years. Looks like the beating is continuing tonight. If it continues through morning, I may have to risk a few hundred on a couple 1-2 month out calls. I know I shouldn't, but I need ...

Re: The GOLD scream room
Glad I rebalanced last week and took some profit, I don't think my PP has seen such a large one day swing %-wise ever?

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion
We've been told all along follow the science, follow the data. Here's a chart for Illinois excess deaths. Back to the normal range. But people are instead of saying we crushed this, are saying we need to keep on doing what we are doing to keep it low. So almost all schools are remote. Not even going...

Re: Maximum Bond Upside
Gary, read this https://portfoliocharts.com/2019/05/27/high-profits-at-low-rates-the-benefits-of-bond-convexity/ Well, after I read that for the 3rd time I think I got it. I still think at some point (-2%, -3% maybe) there is no more upside to be had, even with convexity, unless you think rates can...

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion
It is quite a grand experiment. The hardest thing to break seems the thinking a positive test = near certain death. And there will always be news stories showing this. I have faith it will end. Either herd immunity, vaccine, burns itself out or good theraputic, by the end of the year, and spring sem...

I still think this issue is what breaks us of the sky is falling everyone is gonna die mentality. A few weeks of remote school, basically nationwide, is going to change a lot of people who were scared. My opinion. Quite likely wrong. People have to decouple having the virus with going to die. Not t...

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion
Our high school district just flipped to remote start. Sigh.... I am of the opinion most children will not see the inside of a classroom until after Christmas break at the earliest. We were told in March it was just a week off. Then it was extended until mid April. Then the rest of the school year ...

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion
Cholesterol theory, anyone? Perfect example. But CV was so quick to happen, cholesterol theory has been entrenched for decades. CV knowledge is changing daily. I don’t see why another viewpoint couldn’t take hold, esp. after Aug and Sept when we see the shit show of online learning pushing a lot of ...

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion
I will try to watch those videos, but it still begs the question since the majority of people in Trump's admin and I assume most right leaning individuals would have this view, why is none of this concrete information making its way out to the public from the admin, in a clear fashion?

Re: The GOLD scream room
I took the easy way out, which hopefully makes sense. Took profits and rebalanced GLD and SLV to near their correct amounts without having to touch physical. It pushed cash to above my rebalance limit, but I had in 2016 dropped my cash % from 25 to 10. This will raise it back to about 15%. I can liv...

A good pickle -- I am within 0.2% of my silver band being hit. But if it does, my rebalance will have me also selling a decent amount of gold. ... Any thoughts of using an inverse gold ETF to rebalance negatively? Not a 2x or 3x, just a 1x so limited decay. ... Why not just get the hell out of silv...

A good pickle -- I am within 0.2% of my silver band being hit. But if it does, my rebalance will have me also selling a decent amount of gold. I don't have enough GLD to cover that, so I'd have to dip into physical, which I don't want to do. Any thoughts of using an inverse gold ETF to rebalance neg...

Re: Coronavirus General Discussion
Capture.JPG You really think that out of all the countries in the world (including third-world countries), the U.S. has done the worst job of slowing the virus’s spread (“hardest-hit”)? Could the stats possibly have something to do with the fact that the U.S. is doing far more testing than most oth...

Re: The Key to Defeating COVID-19 Already Exists. We Need to Start Using It | Opinion
HCQ is a tough one to figure out. If it's been used for decades for malaria, are they saying all those people are at risk of heart issues? Or is the dose for Covid a lot higher, or longer? Not sure I understand this and I hate to use the word or go down the path of conspiracy, just because it is too...
