My site says 77% is in US tips.  Yes I bought it for the VP.

Re: TIPS held to maturity as "bottom" of cash component?

I never implemented this, mostly because I found additional ways to buy I-Bonds (in child's name + in a living trust). When my current high yielding (sad when ~3% is high yielding) CDs run out in 2015, which currently are the bottom of my cash component and have a similar role as TIPS were proposed...

Saxo's balanced portfolio turned in a similar result (-2.9 %) to the PP. http://www.tradingfloor.com/posts/global-beta-29-percent-loss-2013-books-closed-605844721 You'll recall that it's based on a macro model like the the PP but uses a more complex engineered asset mix.  The most obvious point of ...

Decision Moose is free for today and I would recommend looking at it while you can. He has a very good long term track record and has added a new twist as well. http://www.decisionmoose.com/Moosecalls.html I like to chase performance!  The PP is up 45% or 7.8% while DM is up 32.8% or 5.8% over the ...

Hey that the spirit.  Thanks.  The 52 week dividend yield was $3.32.  So that would be a yield of about 4.5% going forward.

Maybe not so much negative real interest rates but falling real interest rates. The closer they get to negative, the higher gold seems to go. http://snbchf.snbchfcom.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Real-Interest-Rates-vs.-Gold-Price.jpg PS nice chart!  Is there a way to get it up to date ...

I am not changing the normal PP that I have.  I am interested in the new allocation of the Saxo Bank and wonder if it will be a winner.  I will be following it on paper only.  I am sorry I did not make that clear.

Why Dollar is King despite printing $1 Trillion a year

Good Article from the Wall Street Journal by David Wessel: The U.S. was the epicenter of the worst financial crisis in 75 years. Its central bank is printing money at a rate of $1 trillion a year. Its government debt load is huge and its political system is visibly dysfunctional. It represents a shr...

I have several PPs in separate accounts, so using small-caps instead of a total market fund will be in only one of them, sort of as an experiment. I am planning to sell off stocks in my taxable PP soon to help pay for a large purchase and plan to replace it with VBR (small-cap value). What percent of your stock allocation will you put in small cap value?  For even more fun (and volatility), you could add some emerging markets equity. Also add...

Pointedstick have you been able to back test this for 10 years or so?  I would be interested in knowing what you think the improved return would be.

As a personal note, I do recommend weight lifting for all seniors over 60 years of age.  It a lot cheaper than buying LONG TERM NURSING CARE.  It gives you the best chance to be able to stay in your own home until you die.  You won't build much muscle but you can look good and maintain a whole lot o...
