Re: I'm a Tube Amp Convert

Sadly, I just use 12 gauge zip wire I bought at the hardware store to hookup my speakers. I'm wondering if it's causing electron misalignment and I should upgrade?

Re: I'm a Tube Amp Convert

I'd agree that many solid state amps today sound very good. Even my Bryston separates are going to be on the chopping block soon to be replaced with a modern Yamaha Aventage all in one receiver just to simplify things. I need to audition it to see how it compares first. But I have to admit, I like t...

Re: Maximum Bond Upside

It's also possible the market expects Brexit to pass and then the entire EU might unravel. So investors are looking to park money where they think their money would be the safest if the Euro goes away. That could be bonds, cash, and gold.

I'm a Tube Amp Convert

Enough politics, let's talk audio. Several weeks back on a lark I bought a used Audio Innovations Series 300mkII tube amp (AI300). This is an amp made by the now defunct Audio Innovations out of Britain probably in the early 1990s. It may be older than some of the readers here. I bought it to use in...

Re: The Irrationality of Alcoholics Anonymous

But is AA meetings alone worth $40K a month? Because that's what they're charging insurance on the high end scale. Could you clarify what this means? Who is charging insurance, and for what? Do you have a link to support that assertion? Probably that is for high roller celebrity style rehab. I susp...

Re: The Irrationality of Alcoholics Anonymous

All well and good. But you know if someone has a destructive habit that can only be controlled by taking a prescription pill before they engage in the activity, then maybe stopping all forms of that habit outright ain't such a bad idea. "I find that my heroin use is far more manageable when I ...

Re: Maximum Bond Upside

The bond market is extremely efficient. It is way more efficient than the stock market in my opinion. The math on them is what it is in terms of duration and interest. The biggest benefit with the barbell over ITT is that nice wad of cash for riding out market turmoil, plus the ability to rebalance ...

Re: Maximum Bond Upside

The US 30 year treasury's yield is down to 2.43%, which is below the lowest yields during or after 2008. I have no idea the last time it was down this far. The great depression maybe?? Supposedly this is about the Brexit vote on June 23rd. Maybe next week would be a good time to check the portfolio...

Very few people have ever been banned from this forum. You really need to go above and beyond to get banned, or be an outright spammer.

Hey craig, could you fix this? It's shorter than the old forum nor can I put in the size code. http://i.imgur.com/RozmzH3.png i upped it to 375... I put it at 400. I originally lowered it so we wouldn't see a novella in people's signatures. Images and links are also prohibited. I can't stand images...

It's not an area, it's a "Center".
For our British readers, it's "Chat Centre" which looks much more sophisticated.

Re: Japan -- Time to Buy?

Japan is an interesting place and culturally is not like the U.S. corporatism rules everything mindset. It is entirely possible that their earnings do not do much by design in order to provide for their own workers and people first vs. investors.

Re: Marijuana Legalization

I'm not aware that marijuana causes "psychiatric episodes". Acute psychosis is usually caused by contaminants such as PCP, or combining pot with hallucinogens. Probably the issue is that someone is stoned, and another person isn't yet familiar enough with it to know how to handle it so th...

Re: Marijuana Legalization

It's a total disaster. We're going to see a huge spike in psychiatric episodes. I know two people that deal with emergency and non-emergency psychiatry and they are already seeing this. Also, we're going to see more impaired driving and addicts. Marijuana prosecutions also kept a lot of bad guys off...

I'm so happy the forum is back up. I felt like Arvixe was just messing with me toward the end. Nothing against Indian tech people in theory, but the ones I dealt with were remarkably incompetent. I'm imagining what some of those folks might be like if they were brain surgeons: "So, thank you f...
